2 months old :)

Dreading Methods

Just thought I'd pop in to add some pics of my baby dreadies at 2 months. Last Friday or Saturday was my 2 months marker. Even though I've had to tie them up more than I'd like to for work, they are coming along nicely if you ask me. Ask my hubby, and he thinks it just looks like a mess! Oh well.OK apparently attaching doesn't work how I thought it would.. gotta try and figure out which image code to use here... 2 months 2 months 2 months 2 months

rectangle sections = flat dreads?

Dread Maintenance

I wouldn't think that your mature dreads would be narrower because you have thin hair, just that you will lose more length as they mature. I would split them into the 1x1 sections if it were my hair. (which it isn't)

What made you start your "Journey"?

Introduce Yourself

I'd wanted to dread my hair probably since the first time I saw someone in real life with dreads (probably like 12 or 13) but I never did it, first because my parents wouldn't "let" me, then because I was afraid of not being able to get a job, then because my boss would have had my ass for doing it, then because I work in civil service and with all the retired military around I was afraid of being frowned upon by them. Especially since many of them don't take me seriously anyway because I'm a young girl in an old man's world, if that makes sense. At this point, I've been working there 3 years, I'm comfortable around the people I work with, they know that I do my best to kickass at my job, and what I do with my own hair or body is no one's business but my own, so I decided they can all fuck off if they don't like it. (and while I was at it, I went ahead and got my septum pierced as well, which is another thing I'd never done for fear of OTHER people!)

Wool tams

Introduce Yourself

Making your own is very easy :) You just need a crochet hook and some wool yarn :) Look on youtube, you can learn how to crochet! VERY easy!

Knotty Jonny Clean & baking soda/apple cider vinagar

Dread Maintenance

Dude, he is a flipping idiot. I'm sorry, but he completely changed the baking soda/ACV to simply ACV, based on his assumption that baking soda is useless, and that is therefore what he is basing his "experiment" on?! ACV rinses only. It is the COMBO of the BS/ACV that does the job, correct?

Sea salt stuff

General Questions

WHen I spray mine on, I flip my head upside down, and just spray down towards my hair, instead of up towards the scalp, athough I see how this could be harder if you've got shorter hair... Atom said:
Aight I'll take ur word for it but I kno when I go to the beach, it doesn't irritate me. It's kinda hard for me to spray it on my head n not get it on my scalp but I'll do my best.

if u leave it on your scalp for hours it can dry out your scalp and irutate it badly u gotta realize salt eats holes in metal its a corosive substance

Dreading Methods

I'm so excited, I can't wait to see how it looks after week 2. I've been grabbing at them all day, trying to make sure they are staying separate, and I keep finding knots that I didn't even know were there yesterday! I just got a wool/hemp tam in the mail 2 days ago, and I feel like sleeping in that has been helping a ton, I wake up in the morning, and they look better than they did the night before.

lol. Yes, desparate is a good word! My hair has been trying to do this since I was about 5! I used to SCREAM and run from my mom when she had a brush in her hand as a child. She should have just let me be. I'd have dreads to the floor by now. lol.Anyway, I found my actual camera, so I added one week pics, and these ones aren't as fuzzy as my others. Knottysleeves said:

I wish I could find my real camera instead of my phone camera, I have a few baby dreads already! In the back, at the crown of my head, I have about 5 or 6 back there, I've been messing with those ones a bit though, because I wanted to keep my part, so I can have even piggytails. My phone camera won't show them very well though :(I think the sea salt spray is really helping. I spray my hair down, then go for a drive on the freeway with the windows all down until it dries. I should go borrow my dad's convertible, I'll bet that would help even more lol.
