there is nothing natural about crochet

General Talk

It's fine by me :)Take it from someone who had crochet, they are everything SE said and more. And, if someone truly wants dreads for all the reasons that they should (not just for vanity sake) then I would think that you wouldn't feel good about it inside. Or maybe that was just me, but I know that I wanted my dreads to be a journey, and when I had them crocheted, I felt like I cheated myself.Just my 2 cents .

Nicole's Dreadlock Timeline: Recovery From Crochet, Going Natural

Member Journals and Timelines

We used a tonnnnnnn of conditioner, like a whole bottle. :/. And a brush. My awesome daughter did most of them. It took HOURS. But it was soooooo worth it.recoverytrouble said:
Wow, it's amazing you were able to undo them at all. They looked really tight on day 1 & 2. Did you just persevere with a brush or actually detangle the locks? You must have lost a ton of hair:(
Good to see it's working out really nicely now, keep the updates coming.

Twelve Days after removing crochetted dreads natural dreadlocks appear!

General Talk

Ok, so I know 12 days isn't all that long in dread talk but I am amazed at how my hair is coming along! I started my natural journey on June 21st, 2010 after finding (THANKFULLY!) this website (thanks to SE and Island Mamma) and it helped me decide to take out all the crochet dreads that I had done.Already, in just 12 short days, I have masses of tangles and knots in the bottom layer of my hair. I see dreads forming (already!!!) and I am having to rip apart dreads trying to copulate 2-3 times a day! I really cant believe all this is happening in just 12 days. Its so fun to watch my hair go through these changes. And the changes I feel inside are amazing. I am happier, more relaxed and calm. Is that possible?I cant wait to see where else this amazing journey takes me.Thank you so so much, SE, for this amazing website. You are my hero. :)

Residue, no matter what?

General Questions

No, do I have to every time?Knottysleeves said:
Are you neutralizing the baking soda by doing an ACV rinse after the plain water rinse? Just a splash or two of ACV in a couple cups of water. Lemon juice works well too.

Also, try the baking soda wash without any oils or additives, and do the ACV rinse afterwards. See if that makes any difference.
