Is my hair too short for dreads?

General Talk

Oh Jah, your hair is perfect for natural dreads but if you ABSOLUTELY HAVE TO GET IT DONE NOW THIS SECOND then Twist and Rip at home. Don't go to a salon. They need loyal customers and will screw up your hair so that you can be one with dreads too. Before you do T&R though, I assure you, with the hair that you have, it would lock naturally in no time. I had dead straight hair and it's already locked up noticeably in three weeks so please just consider natural because your hair is perfect for it.

Unraveled.

General Questions

If you tam them, they will dread.Okay seriously though, they'll come around. To keep them from becoming congos, just seperate them if need be. If you t&r or backcomb again it will just destroy your hair so just let it be and they'll come around. Put on a hat or a tam and they'll be fine. I doubt that there are absolutely no knots in the hair unless you ran your fingers through it to see which is definitely not helping the process. Sometimes it's harder to see the knots on the sides and front of your head because those parts take way longer to noticeably lock but give it time and it'll come along shortly. It's all a part of the journey. Just sit back, relax and enjoy the ride. : )

Mine are just starting to look like that underneath too. I i did tNr about a month and a half ago, which I kinda of regret because it pretty much just hindered the process. It's so exciting to see the progress, yours look great so far!
See, I don't know if I can consider myself as someone with dreads yet.

Hairstyles for Dreading Hair...

General Questions

My hair has been dreading naturally for about three weeks now and it's seperated it itself to where everything is in it's own locks. Are there some things that I could do with my hair for when I don't want it in a tam?As of now I have two locks of my hair tying the rest back.

Free Beads

Dread Products

oh man I wish I would've gotten here sooner. My hair just got knotty enough to use them and I only have one left because I lost the other ones. Eh, oh well.

They look fine to me and if you're worried about the thickness then when they start to congo, and they will start to congo, just let them do it and they'll thicken more and more as they mature.
