Johnny Clean's claims om youtube

Dread Products

I watched them before I started dreading...and man am I lucky that I'm so obsessive about these things cus I kept searching and searching until I found this place. I can see how so many people new to dreads can get sucked into his products...I remember a couple of years ago he himself admitted on this site that wax doesn't allow new knots to form, only that it makes the knots made by the backcombing stick together faster...how are dreads ever going to last if they can't form a strong foundation on their own? maybe they'd look fine and look "matured" sooner, but they would be weak

Twist and Rip and Backcombing

Dreading Methods

that's what I did :) I did some light TnR and then I'd move up the knots with the comb(not furiously backcombing). And there was only minimal unraveling in the first few weeks. now I'm 2 years strong :D

Loose Hairs

Dread Maintenance

don't worry about the loose hair so much. it's something you'll get used to with time..If you're really unhappy with it run your hands through your hair a few times and that'll tame them for a while :)

Re TnR ing dreads

Introduce Yourself

you can if you want...some of mine got some extra tnr and they turned out just perfect(ly unperfect :P) lol...but if you want to do it do it soon. I wouldn't do anything to them after 4-5 months since that's when they really start maturing..now that they're still young and kinda loose they're like kids, teach em anything and they'll learn :)

YES :) , I think thin hair tends to get shorter than thicker hair when they tighten, but other than that then they will be great :D

Introduce Yourself

ahh that's what I meant, my hair is the same...I thought by making medium-thick dreads that I would have like empty spots between my dreads but my hair is abundant enough that it doesn't happen :) but for the same reason that my hair is thin(the strands) I have a lot of loose hair..so much that if I leave it down then I can almostcamouflage the dreadies...but that's more my own fault..there was a time that I used just regular shampoo and conditioner and that was the result...but I kind of like the way it is...a mullet in a way--businessin the front, party in the back LOL :P

Hola!

Introduce Yourself

since your hair is thin I wouldn'trecommendthin dreads. when I did mine they were all sizes but now, 2 years later, my thin dreads have completely thinned out at the roots and are like hanging on by very few hairs...it's not big deal to me they'll probably fall out and I'll be left with my thicker healthier ones, but if I'd done them all thin like I actually intended I'd have had a big problem now
