Dead hair!!

Introduce Yourself

Well hair is pretty much all dead cells...you can keep it hydrated but it's not living. idk what all you've done, but it's possible that it may have been so thin that the new growth of hair didn't make it inside, so eventually, the natural shedding kept on going and without new hair going in it could have just thinned weakened to the point where it fell out when you pulled. it happened to a few of mine and I got freaked out too, but then I noticed the root was really super thin so it's not like there's a chunk of hair missing from my head

How can i mature my dead faster?

Dreading Methods

that looks perfectly fine...you have to give it time..it's not gonna be mature in a week...even a month. 6-12 months it took my whole head to be even slightly matured

How can i mature my dead faster?

Dreading Methods

No way to really make it mature faster without murdering your hair(including wax) just leave it and it will dread in it's own time :)

beeswax

Introduce Yourself

lol no prob :) What wax does is stick the hair together. However little you use that's what it does. When hair is actually locked it is really intricately tangled together..like it weaves itself together..wax doesn't allow for the movement needed to tangle, so it looks all tight and together but on the inside it's just stuck together instead

beeswax

Introduce Yourself

if your hair is just twisted I think it would be easiest to undo them and wash out all the wax. It's not necessary, it will slow actual dreading while making them look locked.

When should i start washing??

General Questions

just wash it...wash when you feel the need..like every 2-4 days depending on how you feel. Since she crocheted they will puff a little but don't worry it should go down. try the baking soda/acv rinse and just leave them to get themselves in order :)

and she probably told you to go back for maintenance, but don't worry about it. It's really not necessary and can actually bedetrimentalto the dreading process..it only helps to make it look dreaded but real dreading happens on it's own

Need some ideas

Alternative Lifestyles and Subcultures

You could get a pet if you don't have one..it really changes your life to beresponsiblefor someone/thing else. You could go small like a hamster or bird, or if you're up for it you could go for a dog or cat

Help!!!!

Dread Maintenance

unfortunately that's gonna happen. dreads need to tighten, which means shorten. there really won't be anynoticeablegrowth until like 1-2 years in. and even then it'll be a slow growth

My dreads were super long, now theyre super short....is this normal???

Help! Save My Dreads

everyone's shrinkage is different. mine shrunk about a third, maybe half. you'rs is definitely extreme. but don't let them all congo. that can turn bad really fast. So separate them, rip as much as you need. if you need get someone to help you, maybe use a little olive oil on the connecting hairs and if that still doesn't work, getscissorsand with someone helping you, have them cut only a few hairs at a time, then rip until they can get the rip going. don't be afraid to rip hard.

If you leave it alone and it really will turn into a big mass and you'll probably have to cut it off :(
