Was just reading about locking accelerator and lock pepper... Are these as bad, and unnecessary, as wax?!

New dreads

Dreading Methods

dr bronners liquid soap, tee tree best... cleans your hair properly, u could use the baking soda/vinegar recipe u find here on site somewhere... but i think for a beginner its easier use bronners... u ll find that your hair after wash is less slicky, less oily.. contrary to shampoo..also great help is salt water rinse before dreads (after wash)... swim in a sea or imitate the sea water and put it on your hair.. than dry it and start t'n'r....Mr Nice said:
Thanks guys! Just found a good vid on YouTube that shows the TnR process, and it does look pretty simple... This is probably a question for another section of the forum, but as you mentioned washing my hair properly, Mikey, what should I use?

Thanks again =)

New dreads

Dreading Methods

twist and rip is not difficult, unless u r totaly useless in any kind of manual job... its just a labour..have a look at youtube for twist and rip, focus on the final look of the dread and if u like it, imitate it. also be patient, its a hard work and take long time, but at least its not painful for you, just the hard work for the person doing it.do few a day and dont worry about it too much...its not a rocket science, just a hair of a cavemen..salons... they want to make money so speed the process up as much as possible with different products, ways... anyway why would u pay for it if u can do it yourself, its not gonna be any better there trust me...;)and its a great satisfaction to create something just the way u want it...i would tell u too go natural but if u want a neater dreads, t'n'r done properly will look the way u want... twist once, rip apart about 6 times...but u ll see, just wash properly beforehand, cause otherwise it will never dread...hope it makes sense...good luck!

is it bad

Dreading Methods

if its a normal 'shampoo' our hair woudnt dread... it puts a lot of chemical shit in your hair which prevents dreading...i used t have a long hair without brushing and never got dreads, just because of shampoo...wash it properly, with soap or anything but shampoo..

How offten do you wash with the baking soda wash?

Dread Maintenance

everybody's hair reacts different to different cleaning products and enviroment... for example mine gets a bit more irritated by liquid bronners compare to ok feeling after baking soda. but my hair loves sea water, if i swim in a sea regularly i dont need to wash.. thats when im on a seaside with a lot of sunshine... at the moment im inland and i can tell my hair s not too happy here. i wash once a week..(while inland without sea+sunshine)

Life Issues Facing Dreads

hey, if u r not sure, dont look in the mirror ;)to be honest, i think your dreads look exactly how they should for young messy dreads, the best thing you can do is stop thinking about your hair and do something else... they ll be fine.try to enjoy shocking people, it is satisfying to be different ;)Shuaib ahmed said:
oh sorry didn't mean to put it in this section, I was jud so pissed off i forgot to put it in general questions. Ye thanks I guess i'll just ignore them, cuz they keep sayin my dreads dont look like dreads too and say it looks like a mess. So each time I look in the mirror I keep asking myself are they right? lol.

Life Issues Facing Dreads

why do u even worry about it? its not your problem, its theirs...dreadlocks are the most convenient hairstyle out there, looks good (matter of taste of course), no maintenance, no hair on the floor or in the bathroom, no pain (because u r not combing) ;)ask ur mum if she noticed that its much cleaner house since your locks...;Dand dont worry about it, if people want to judge, they will find a reason...
