Member Journals and Timelines

I was hoping I'd get a couple of fat ones :) I've always liked how the thicker ones look. And I totally get what you mean by personality I acutally named my favourite one Xavier after Professor X because it keeps changing and doing cool things and sort of reminded me of the X-Men haha. And good to know on the Icon thing... I will keep that in mind Next time! soaringeagle said:

Fush's Twist n' Rip Time line!

Member Journals and Timelines

Alright so I guess today is technically my first day, I just put in my last dread tonight! Finally haha... It took about three weeks of just doing one or two a day. So one side of my head is like three weeks old the other is like... ten minutes. It's actually kind of cool because it lets me see just how much the one side has progressed. So I used Twist n' rip like the title says but I didn't section my hair in inch squares or anything...I just went about two weeks without brushing my hair before I started and it sectioned on it's own, so they're really comfortable and don't stick up oddly at all. This side is the new side as Seen by my rather pathetic camera skills... http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v217/shinobi_o_doom/DSC00159.jpg "> http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v217/shinobi_o_doom/DSC00159.jpg And the old side... http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v217/shinobi_o_doom/DSC00162.jpg And a shot of the back where new meets old haha http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v217/shinobi_o_doom/DSC00163.jpg Uhhm... Lets see, we're slipping a bit at the roots though they're supposed to climb up a bit more? I'm gonna bead a couple of the ones that're trying to come loose in a bit and well, I left a lot of loose hair in them on purpose I found it started doing really neat things. One of my dreads has a chunk of loose hair wrapping around it and forming a cool pattern on top it's reallyawesome! A lot of them are flat right now too but I actually quite like them that way so from here on out I'm letting nature take her course.Guess I'll post again in a couple weeks?I think it's been around two weeks since the last update? Maybe? Haha Not entirely sure eitherway, We're over a month now on the older ones, the front ones are younger... But only on one side. Haha it's a bit confusing.Pardon the pictures, they were taken from my cell phone as I don't have a camera kickin' around lol.

This ones just a shot of my favourite of the bunch... He's starting to do some crazy things now it's pretty exciting :)

So yeah... I've noticed that they've crept up the roots in a lot of places (yaaay) and they're already tightening up quite nicely. It's also turning into a bit of a mix of natural and Tn'R because I didn't dread some of my hair before and the lose haris are forming into dreads now too... Or wrapping aorund other ones. Cool stuff either way. The most maintenance I do is a bit of separating and if running aorund outside in the wind a lot counts, that too. Lol.Uhhm I think it's been a bit past a week since my last update? Wasn't planning on posting another one for a bit but some interesting things have taken place since. I had one dread that had gotten so thick it was uncomfortable but it separated really easily, the two new dreads out of it look like they've been there as long as the rest, and I've got some new babies forming in my loose hair already. The main reason I'm posting is cause I got my first 'nice dreads' comment this week, from a couple people too which I think is a good indication of progress eh? Back View, Can't wait for the top ones to knot up more :) The same loopy dread as last time... Side 1 Side 2That about does it... Can't wait to see what they're like in another month!

A Couple Questions

Dread Maintenance

Good to know on the roots! And I think I understand...The bead just kinda forces certain groups of hair to stay together and knot up. Maybe I'll look into getting something to stick on my less knoted dreads then... Thanks SE! :) soaringeagle said:
4 inches is alot but u say theyre still brand spankin new so it dont matter a bit roots never need any extra effort the dread will dread towards the roots, they'll always have some space but it gets less over time typicaly u will have 1-3 inches till theyre getting mature and that will close up to bout 1/2 inch

u can put anything with a round hole in as a bead

ok beads work in 2 ways, the obvious way by holding the hairs together
but also when u pus a bead on till it sticks it pushes some hairs up this causes lil loops and uneven lengths.. uneven lengths and movement help get knots forming

for instance my 1st dreads in the back only stuck beads in perfectly straight hair in no time they dreaded up fast

that might not be the clearest explanation so all ill say is it works great

umm on beads tho it can be anything with a hole but be careful but anyt5hing with edges that can snag other hairs/dreads the lil metal prongs that hold stones in rings for instance can snag hairs

A Couple Questions

Dread Maintenance

Right so My oldest couple Dreads ( I say oldest as I still haven't even finished putting them in... I'm a bit of a lazy sod haha) are locking up quite well... This first one not so much but I figure a bit of time'll fix it... It was like a practise run right? Anyways, I was looking aorund here for some topics about roots and I couldn't really find anything... Now I know it's not good to be to close to the root because it pulls and stuff... But I think I've got maybe a good four inches of Root on my hair... Will this lock up eventually a bit maybe? Or just stay loose?I was also wondering what precisely do beads do? I've heard they help with locking though I don't quite understand how haha...And do they have to be beads? I know a girl who keeps a pop can tab in hers...Using Twist n' Rip By the way... Don't have any pictures of what we're lookin' like right now but I'm quite happy with them.

First time Poster and Long time Lurker! (Okay more like...Two months?)I just started dreading about two weeks ago...Using The Twist and Rip method... Still haven't done all my hair But that mostly just because I'm rather lazy. I'm pretty excited to get things rolling with my dreads we;re a little loose a tthe roots now but I figure it's nothing time won't fix, what's the point in panicking right? :)Anyways! Nice to meet you all I'm sure! This is me and my baby dreads: http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v217/shinobi_o_doom/?action=view&current=Snapshot_20100510.jpg&newest=1 Hopefully they keep going well haha.
