Looking for help with tnr for short dreads in Pittsburgh PA

Dreading Methods

Hi there. I'm pretty experienced with the usual methods of dreading hair, but I want to make sure when starting over this new set that I do it right even the parts I can't reach. My hair will be about 6ish+ inches long & locks really easily... I will be getting a friend whos in beauty school to do the sectioning, I want really small ones, about 80 or so,and then I need someone in the area to help tnr it. Anyone want to help out?

Thanks & Peace!

Jenn

Choices choices - which to buy for new locks - Vicki's Himalayan Sea Salt Spray or Lock Magic gel???

Dread Products

So as I posted about a few months ago, Ijust started a brand new NATURALjourney. Have had locks for years but always started with artificial methods (backcomb, crochet, extensionsetc) I was tired of therough feel of the "locks", of all the work to keep them up, and wasbeing called to take all that out, lose the expectations and restriction, and go for something organic and free.I cut out my crocheted extensions andmuch to my shock, my 6" of hair underneath that I'd dreaded and attacked the extensions to was barely knotted. I had the inch or 2 that was several months of new growth locking as it came in, and the sections were mostlystill separated, tho I ripped some in half and they were very very frizzy. I guess the restriction of the crochet and the tightness of the extension hair kept things from moving enough to get friction and lock up, kinda like wax does! so Idid a little loose rip & twist on the loose ends, andfrom now on I'mjust going the neglect route with the mess on my head and see what happens. My straight hair has always resisted locking on its own & this will be the first time I haven't crocheted or done artificial means to make it lock, this is all new for me! And a little nerve wracking, but yet it feels like the right step for me, and I embrace the mess. I have been using Bucks County Soap's shampoos for a long time, and was about to order more of the Lockin Up liquid. After seeing rave reviews on this site for other products from the site and how they helped resistant hair, I would like to try the Locking Gel and Sea Salt spray, but can't afford both. So for those of you experienced users, which would you recommend as the best for baby dreads? I plan to order this afternoon so need replies ASAP. Thanks so much!

Jenn

Have dread beads for sale or barter :)

Dread Craft Show and Trade

Have a rather large stash of 22 dreadie beads I'd like to sell or trade off, mostly bone/horn/wood with tribal designs, or Tibetan silver, some with celtic knots, and one or two glass ones. most are for medium to fat dreads and a few for skinny ones. I took out the extensions and am letting my very short dreads go to neglect (and OMG are they a HOT MESS lol) so they are kinda short for beads... and I really need to get some of Vicki's stuff from bucks county soap to help my hair lock - so I will either take paypal, or barter for lockin up liquid, locking gel or Himalayan salt spray, any amounts even partial bottles. I will sell for $5 each plus shipping (they should fit in a small envelope so that won't be more than a buck or two) and would prefer to sell in lots of at least 2 to save on shipping. PICS attached below.

Blessings,
Jenn

Dread Craft Show and Trade

nah not in europe but would ship there... no issues with that. I'm in PA actually. I'm actually getting past the point where I need the liquid shampoo anyway - hairs getting pretty tight and I just love shampoo bars :)

Dread shampoos for sale/swap - Maylees and Lockin Up Dread Shampoo plus Lock Magic Locking Gel

Dread Craft Show and Trade

Ok I did not make these but they ARE handmade so hoped it would be ok to post them here??? I went a little shampoo crazy and bought a ton of shampoos.... and the scents don't agree with me so I'd like to get rid of these and get something i can use. I'd really love to swap for tams/wraps/beads, or a dread shampoo bars I KNOW I like - either in Nag Champa or Maylees Dread shampoo bar in Hippie Mama (which alas she doesn't make anymore but I used to love) IF no one has anything to swap then I'll sell for cheap - way less than I paid - prices below. I have:

nearly full Lockin Up shampoo in Dragon's Blood - paid $15 asking $10

Lock Magic Locking Gel in Karma (Patchouli orange scent, which normally I'd love but its a bit strong for me) paid $12 asking $7

Maylee's Garden Dreadlock Shampoo bar in Karma I have two of these, opened to smell but never wet or used - paid $5/each, asking $7 for both

Peace!

Jenn

You can also get microfiber towels that are made from the same stuff as shamwow but thicker and terryclothish like a normal towel - I got two handtowels and sewed them together and it works GREAT!

I have also been alternating using the lockin up liquid with the bar and love em both - the nag champa is moderately strong but doesn't aggravate my migraines like many fragrances do. I just got a full patchouli bar and a sample dragons blood, and realized that I'm not crazy about the patchouli but I love love LOVE the db! Soaring Eagle is right on in calling it licorice-y. I was wondering if anyone who has db and is interested in trying the patchouli would be interested in swapping bars or even partial bars? I REALLY want more of the db! The patchouli bar hasn't been used yet, just sniffed.Peace!
