Dreads Hair and Scalp Health

they're definately fleas... i've done the whole lice thing with the kids before... lol i've only found one, but my poor head has been bitten, so i'm doing the alcohol thing anyway, and i'll do the acv thing as well. the problem is my daughter lives with a bunch of dogs.. i have two of my own... so... dogs are out and i am running around like an idiot cleaning. thanks so much for your help. <3 soaringeagle said:
fleas wont live on u thety will bite u yes but will only live on pets
but a pet with fleas can infest a house
now lice will live on u
but alcohol will kill em they cant breath the fumes and die
if its lice do a vinagar rinse after and it dissolves the egg casing so they arent attached tio the hair

u gotta repeat every 3 days to breat the birth cycle
lice lay eggs at 5 days old and the eggs hatch in 5 days too
so killing em every 3 days means none survive to lay eggs
u probly will need 3 or more treatmentrs

I looked up what I should do.. I'm currently washing EVERYTHING!! and while I'm waiting for everything to be washed HOT... I put 70% alcohol onto my scalp, doused my dreads, wrapped in a plastic bag and am waiting the half hour. This is the method I've seen most for killing fleas in dreads. I'm hoping that this is correct... I really dont want to lose my dreads.. any one have this situation before??????

Why did YOU get dreads?

Introduce Yourself

the first time i had dreads, i wanted to just try it out.. i think dreads are absolutely beautiful for whatever reason a person chooses to do it.then i had to cut.... and just realized that dreads are just me. :) so now they're back :) and i'm VERY happy

unfortunately, right now, you wont be able to convince most people about dreads. people will think the hair falls out, they'll think they're dirty, etc, etc,i worked at a resturaunt too and they put me in back to wash dishes...they wanted me to wear a hairnet as well, but i agree with you. if you do, so should everyone else.maybe while you're working you could pin up the sides? just bobby pin them back so they're not hanging? that's what i did, or what about a thick hair wrap?.. that will keep everything off your face and tucked up nicely :)

i dont know if this helps anyone, but i always tell my kids...if someone makes them feel bad.... that the only person who can create sadness is themselves. if someone has a very strong opinion about something and you disagree.... regardless of what they say to you....it shouldnt bother you. why let someone else get you down. put that sad energy into something more positive and keep yourself happy. doesnt matter how you dread, or dress, or eat or whatever... if it makes YOU happy, and you're not hurting anyone else, then so be it.

there are so many negative people in the world... this site should be a 'safe' a place for communal thoughts and ideas. There is never any reason to put someone down...regardless of your own opinion. Difference is what makes people interesting.

it's easy to say "this is my way, so it should be everyone's way because it worked for me"
it IS harder to disagree eloquently, but in doing so, it makes you more compassionate, respectable and admirable.

Just my opinion
