What is a Hippie?

Hippie is word. I often find people just use it to stigmatize a certain type of person and it pisses me off to a certain extent, however it is often used in an affectionate way I suppose. So that's really what 'hippie' is to me. Just another word, you know like goth or emo. It's just putting people in groups and it's lame.
