At my 14 month with dreadlocks

Member Journals and Timelines

WOW!!! All this time I was under the impression that the two were used together :-( I will drop the lemon juice. Sooo sea salt/water mix only. Thanks for that little bit of info...now they may tighten up even more.

peace and enjoy your day

At my 14 month with dreadlocks

Member Journals and Timelines

Started out with back combing. Nothing else other than washing with baking soda, rinsing with apple cider vinegar and accelerating with sea salt/lemon juice spray off and on. I have notice that the length has now set in. I still wonder how long it will take for them to be more cord/rope like...please if anyone out there can tell me...do say so. Again this is my 14 mo. and still loving them.

Old vs young

General Talk

YES YES...I work at a sporting store. I have had many older folks speak up with complements on my dreads. Also many younger folks too. It has all been good for me thus far. I am on the older side myself. I thanks them sincerely with all my heart and warmth. They leave with a smile and nice impression of a person with dreads.

peace

Hello fellow dreaders!

Introduce Yourself

It took me a while to figure out what that noise was too. Too funny. I was looking all over for what it could be. I think that I had to ask too, about a year ago. Enjoy your dreading journey with the rest of us. This momma has dreads. peace

I also saw it in the news. There is nothing right/good about what they are doing. Soooo wrong on many levels. Very sad to see and hears about. And they have the right to do so, protest their beliefs.

Life Issues Facing Dreads

I also am interviewing. Went in yesterday for one, it went well, huge turn out of application. I was ask to come back this morning to observe surgery. Soooo I am on my way in. This is how I wore my dreads this morning. After I saw these picture I did tuck some loose end in and centered the clip. PS. I also have a felony...taking children out of the state without X's ok...that was like 25 years ago though. peace I am applying for surgical asst. or the front desk of Dr. practice. I do have thought of cutting mine off lately, but would rather not. Oh I did turn down one offer due to i'st location...soooo I was accepted in that one. peace

People touching your dreadlocks

General Questions

My dreads turned 17 months old and for the first time I actually had a couple of women say how mush they liked my dreads. That was nice and all...but one of them said SHE just had to touch/feel them....b be for I could react she had my dreads in her hands. I have heard for others on this site about other touching their dreads and I though...what is the big deal? Well when it came to some stranger touching my dreads/hair I did not like it. I could not imagine myself ever doing that to another person...a complete stranger. It is hard to explain...just did not care for it...when it happened to me. I hope that is the last time too. Oh well..peace out from this momma has dreads

People touching your dreadlocks

General Questions

I am also OK with it. I have had many old folks ask me about them. They ask first, I have never had anyone just touch them without asking first. So I am just fine with it. Then I get ask many question, which is great, educate those who feel or have a stereo type in their mind of those with dreads.

All good here

Another style for sister dreaders....

General Talk

I think this would be a nice style to wear for an evening out, wedding, special occasion..or not. I did use a black barrette , but I have also just tie a knot in that space too. peace
