Natural dread washing

Dread Maintenance

I bought this bar soap - Calendula Plantsoap (?)with the ingredients: Sodium Palmate, Sodium Cocoate, water, sodium olivate, fragrance from natural essential oils, glyzerin, calendula officanalis flower extract, chamomilla recutita (matricaria) flower extract, voila tricolor extract, oryza satvia extract, malt extract, sodium chloride and sodium stearate..I was just wondering if you can find anything in this soap that might hinder my neglect journy. Thanks soaringeagle said:
nope
most bar soaps have alot of residues and conditioners
non residue is not 100% needed but is best u can use a bar soap but u can get nasty buildup over time

Washing - counterproductive?

Dread Maintenance

Thanks for the replys guys!and sorry it took so long for me to reply..I will definetly try the dish soap next time I wash, which should be tomorrow or so. Only question I have - how much should I use and should I dilute it?Yesterday I took a bath with +/- 0.75kg of salt and I have a feeling this really helped my hair knot up.. I can feel more, tighter knots and also my hair feels dryer, which im guessing should help as well.I shall post again after washing with dish soap

Washing - counterproductive?

Dread Maintenance

Hello all,
I started my neglect dreadlocks about 6 weeks ago and am quite satisfied with the progress its making, however, every time I wash my hair (I use baking soda followed by an ACV rinse [thanks SE!]) the knots seem to come undone`,leaving my hair almost undreaded again..
Is this supposed to be the case or am I doing something wrong?

Thanks in advance!NB I dont wash my hair too often - only when it starts to feel dirty. Longest period I went without washing my hair was not even a week.

Heyhey!

Introduce Yourself

Sorry I havent replied.. busy times..Thanks for the quick responses! I twisted and ripped part of my head but unfortunatly they fall apart after a good nights sleep. I gave it some thought and think Im going to try the natural method (at least till my hair is longer to give TnR another shot).

Heyhey!

Introduce Yourself

Hello, hope everyone is enjoying their Christmas Eve!Ive beening lurking around the forums for a while now, asked a few questions, but now I think its time to introduce meself.Ive been wanting dreads for a while now but sadly never had the balls to really start.. Until now that is!So my question is;My hair is around 8/9cm on the top and a bit shorter on the sides - should I bother with twist and rip or would that just be a waste of time? Thanks in advance!

Thanks! Ill try this out this weekend. Jo said:
I'd say an hour or two. If you leave it on for days it can make your scalp really itchy. I mean salt corrodes metal.
