Musty Smelling Hair

Dread Maintenance

O.k. so In my experience,1. I wouldn't use the blow dryer. I just feel that it's very misleading. You can blow dry as much as you want but I feel that the centers will still be wet.2. to help prevent the musty smell, still try to keep your dreads as dry as possible.3. you really don't need to was the dreds themselves. Just the scalp area. Especially Dr. Bronners users! after prolong use of Dr. Bronners in the actual dread part you will notice that the Dreads will tend to harden up. Like a harden that you don't want. What it is, is the Dr. Bronners still in the dreads. You can find little gobs of it that kind of look like mushy Lint. But like I said these are all in my experiences.

natural dreadlocks or neglect method dreading

Dreading Methods

soaringeagle's Right! just tie them back and that's the wonderful thing, the natural way is such a long process (but not too long) that they won't even know that you have dreads until it's too late. Plus by then they won't even care.

natural dreadlocks or neglect method dreading

Dreading Methods

O.K. So for many many years from the time I was about 13 to 17 I always did the back comb method. But I was never happy with the results and It always ended in me shaving them off. but after I had shaved like the 6th set of dready's off I decided to do it the right way.... Just let 'Em grow! I'm on 5 years now of all natural growth and they aren't going anywhere! So In my opinion the only way to go is the all natural way! Just like Soaringeagle said, Love 'em enough and they'll grow.
