Thanks Heather. I hope so!!! Now the question would be how to make them lighter. lol. I was thinking oof trying acv or a conditioning. They do feel quite dense.

it doesn't look like thinning to me. it probably looks more pronounced though because your sections are more established now than in the beginning and the weight of your locks. you have less frizz than most people too which tends to hide the parts more.

Help! Save My Dreads

this is ridiculous and kind of worring me.

Recently I have been noticing my hair looking like it's thinning up top and I'm not sure how long it's been like this because I'm not usually paying attention to what my hair looks like but ever since I noticed it I have been obsessing and distressing over it. My dreadlocks are almost 4 years old. I used to crochette to maintain but haven't for the past two years and when I did it wasn't very many times. I have only used wax I think may be 3 times in the beginning month and have been working to get that out..I was looking at older pics of me and don't seem to have this problem. Could it be the weight? Am I thinning? Any help to fix this? Thanks in advance. This is really taking a toll on my self esteem. My ex (and still best friend) tells me that I'm fine and there is nothing to worry about, that I'm worried over nothing but I don't think it ever looked like this! If anyone needs more infor to further understand and help, ask away and thanks again.

Much love,

Nicole

Dread Maintenance Occurance - Honest Usage on this Site

Dread Maintenance

ME!!!! But in the first two years I tried crocetting and tucking loose hairs in.. but personally now, I love the messy look and I embrace anything my hair wants to do. :)

sand in dreads Help me!!!

Help! Save My Dreads

what SE said. ^^ it's from the older site: http://dreadlocktruth.com/dtforum/topic?f=4&t=196?p=33304&hilit=deep+clean+recipe#p33304 The one on this site takes out the lemon juice, I can't remember why. SE can tell ya. But, my friend has always used the recipe this way and it has always worked for him. Me as well except for the last time, and that was because I didn't squeeze my locks enough when I was rinsing so make sure you squeeze all that baking soda out cos if not your hair will feel sticky.. It should feel super clean and even tighter when you're done so if for any reason it does feel sticky, rinse again!! lol

Help! Save My Dreads

My friend used to live in Flordia and he always found that when he would do a deep clean soak for his dreads there would always be sand coming out that was stuck. :P Hope this helps.

General Questions

Sounds good. Thanks for the help. :) Unfortunatly, yes, I have used wax when I first started in 07. So you might be right.. but, I did however, buy that dewaxing stuff from knottyandnice and have yet to try it. I'm planning to have my fiance help me with it today or tomorrow.

deep cleaning..

General Questions

Ok cool. Thanks SE. My fiance and I have been using that one (him more than me) but Ill be sure to try the one on here instead. I usually just use maylees but like to do a deep clean every once in a while. By your description I guess it's the lemon interaction with the baking soda that made it sticky feeling? My hair still feels kind of heavy so I'm guessing I just need to spend more time squeezing it out I suppose?

General Questions

Why would you not want lemon juice when that's what is in the recipe? http://dreadlocktruth.com/dtforum/topic?f=4&t=196?p=33304&hilit=deep+clean+recipe#p33304

deep cleaning..

General Questions

Hey guys. So I did a deep cleanjust now(the one with baking soda, tea tree oil, lemon juice, and salt) and when I went to wash it out my dreads felt kind of sticky like a tacky feeling. I thought I just need to rinse more so I did for a while and now I've been sitting here drying them hoping they'll feel different and they still feel unpleasent. :/ I've done this rinse before with no problems, in fact, last time it left them feeling cleaner than ever. What could be the problem?
