how to see more of the dreadlockssite activity

General Questions

. i know you can set the activity bar up to 20 activitys on the my page part of the site but how can u see if your activity went pass there. i mean is there a way to see more or say if u havent gotten on in a few days and you recieved like 25 updates on the activity part of the my page but you are only allowed to have 20 activities displayed. is there any way to see those 5 that got outdated i suppose is the word. just wondering. i mean really it aint a big deal its just im part of like a bunch of groups and i have a bunch of friends on here and sometimes i get photo comments or group comments that i didnt know i recieved until a long time afterward cuz i dont really get the oppurtunity to get on alot and i have a 2 year old that goes crazy when i do get on and hardly lets me on for awhile. i was just wondering if there was a way to keep en eye out for those things that i have nmissed cuz i really want to stay updated on all the activities. but i guesse i could just check em all like i do with my groups that i personally created. thanks for the time and let me know if theres any sort of fix for it. peace and love. and i love this site

wax not so bad?

Dreading Methods

amen my friend. we need to start the anti judgemental peace love and all dreads group. no bickering no judgements all dread methods welcome. no arguing aloud. wax , neglect twistrip backcombing all dreads are still dreads. make love and not dread wars. alicia jean said:
i'm new to all this, but it seems that hunter is just trying to say 'hey, it worked for these ppl and it looked good.' he's not promoting, he's not telling anti-waxers that they are wrong, he's just observing.

i understand that there are a lot of ppl here that have direct, bad experience with wax, but isn't it just a little tiny bit remotely possible that someone else had good luck with wax? most of you guys are trying to push forward an anti-wax cause because you see the risks, but with all the shoot downs and snide remarks you are making yourselves look bad.

take it from a newbies point of view! who wants to align themselves with a group of ppl who nit pick and bicker? i think you are right in not using wax and i personally don't plan on doing so myself, but i know i'm not going to endear anyone to me by telling them they are totally wrong and if they insist on doing it their own way they are wasting their time. even if it's true, you don't win ppl over by insulting them.

give them the truth! tell them your testimonies! but don't judge them for their choices! when that person comes across someone who has had good luck and mature dreads and they used wax it will make you look like a fool.

there is so much good info on this site, and so many supportive ppl! don't spoil it by standing on a soap box!

wax not so bad?

Dreading Methods

my hubby and i both used wax in the beginning. weve had ours for a long time. ive had mine for about 4 yrs now and hes had his for almost 6 i think....not exactly sure but our dreads are not stiff. our dreads are not moldy, it only took my hair like a few months to be dreaded to wear they didnt fall apart. i have cut my dreads before and there was no mold in them. i mean honestly i think mold comes from dreads that dont dry more so then using a lil wax here and there. . . i mean i havent used wax in my hair for years but i did use it in the beginning and its really annoying that some dread issues are being considered just wax using problems. i mean honestly if u dye your dreads or wash ur dreads with shampoos that dont rinse out then theres gonna be stuff stuck in the middle from the right. i just dont see how it can all be because of wax. Now in my opinion if u use wax alot like everyday and melt it in your hair thats a diffrent stoty. but if u only use it in the beginning if u wash ur hair with warm water and soap overtime all of it would wash out. just like dirt and sand and soap residue. honestly i wouldnt change anything i did. i backcombed palm rolled and waxed in the beginning when my hair was only a few inches long. my hair is now down my back and i personally have had no problems. just do what you want to do and use your own line of thought. everyone here has their opinions and their methods just dont let anyone else bully you into a method that doesnt work for you. unbiased opinions are the best and im sure theres those out there cursing at me for this comment but honestly i dont care because i hate how ppl attack other ppls methods. i know they believe they are right and doing the right thing but like ive always said, moderation is the key. do what u think is right for you and if ur worried about the wax then dont use it but in my case and my husbands case we dont have any of the usual problems they say wax creates. either we are lucky or wax isnt that bad

i dont mean to sound mean in my previous statement and i hope it didnt come off that way but i think if we could combined and gain some ppl from the hqpage then maybe theyll see that there are other ways and methods other then wax and they can make an educated decision afterwards on what is truly the best one for them

Dread Products

i havent read all these comments but i would like to say that no matter anyones beliefs atleast jonny klean/dreadhq came on here to talk to a group of ppl that he either knew or thought would attack him or insist that hes wrong and question his beliefs. we should give him some props for that. i mean maybe a lil wax here and there wont hurt. u all know that in the beginning i used just a little bit on the outside of my dreads and im on year 4 and theres no sign of mold, or of them falling out. i mean once my dreads were well dreaded i didnt use it any more but i really dont think these ppl were trying to ruin dreads otherwise i dont think theyd use it. im not saying anyones right im just saying maybe noone is completly wrong here. agree to disagree and get along so maybe one day we can have a site with wax user and natural dreadies together peacefully. being negative doesnt accomplish anything here. just get along and maybe together we can show all the diffrent ways and let the person make their own mind up to which one they decide on. what happened to peace love equality and respect ya know. im just slightly tired of always hearing ppl putting one method above the next. and its not just in wax its also like backcombing vs neglect. everyone is diffrent and therefore one method isnt the best for everyone. lets just agree everyones diffrent and have a peaceful, loving sight guys. what ever happened to make love not war? stop the dread war.

What do you do if...

General Talk

i remember my parents told me i wasnt aloud to do it under their roof. but i did it anyways and alot of my family actually all of my family almost hat them. but i mean look i have a husband who has them and a son who has them and even though some ppl say they hate my hair they still like me. you cant expect everyone to like the same things you do. thats the beauty and downfall of life. as for your mom u know shell get over it and im sure theres other things she may or may not approve of in ur life ya know. and as far as ur hubby remember he made the comment "i love u even though u havent brushed ur hair in 5 days" so u know that even if he doesnt understand ur true reasons for wanting them and even though he thinks i persuade you maybe he will realize that this is the "real" or"new" you and im sure that since he loves you inside out that hair aint gonna matter in the end. the beginnings of them are usually the hardest for certain family members cuz they just dont understand them. and hard on you because u arent use to the critisizm as u will be later on. but like i said to you before in person just as many ppl out there who may not like them there are those of us who think you will look beautiful in them and ulitmately it comes down to what u inside truly want. i mean if it really is something u desire to have and if u do love them alot then once they are actually forming you will be so happy with them that u wont be asking urself what if. just make sure u do what makes u happy and not for someone else. and those of us that care about you will have ur back no matter what! plus dude ima be here another year so ill help u fight those negatives!!! chyea
