What is a Hippie?

Alternative Lifestyles and Subcultures

It would only make sense then too attpemt to put as much beauty into the world as we could, the more we give the more we get! We open our minds and hearts and spirits to see more than the surface, and can use that to describe things more deeply, the character, the personality, the spirit of the person, place, or beings in the world. If we are looking deeper we can describe rather than label. One word is far too narrow to group any thing or any person under. A rose by any other name would smell as sweet, but when I tell you that "That large, 19 pedalled yellow rose with the oh so long stem covered in beautifully protective thorns smells like morning dew and honey, and when I smell it my heart smiles.", it feels sweet too!! It's unfair to label or classify any thing or person because we restrict it or them from being more. Even if we open our minds to the fact that every persons perspective of the word is different, it's still limiting. Remove the labels, allow the universe to be, and watch it unfold! Rekindle your child-like wonder and ask why? Why do we call that color blue instead of sock? Who was it that got to decide that that was the name for that color? Why can't I call it desk? Who was it that placed that limitation upon my life and my world? Hmmmmm....... It doesn't make me think blue, I would prefer to call it smiles!

What is a Hippie?

Alternative Lifestyles and Subcultures

Didj, I get this. A tree is a tree because we call it a tree, but what does the tree choose to call itself? Simply there, alive, existing. All things are called, or labeled something, simply so our minds can classify them as this or that, but the natural world is simply existing without the use of those names. What we choose to call them makes no difference to their existence. If we could detach ourselves from the need to label something, or to name everything, and just exist with it, we would come into a whole new world of light. A higher plane if you will. A quick peek into Taoism teaches us this, Tao simply is, when we call it Tao it no longer is, because we've named it. When we attempt to put a name or label onto something we restrict its freedom to simply be what it is, we restrict it by forcing it into the frame work of what it is we want it to be, which of course is different for every one. Our life experiences make our stories and perspectives on life different, but it's those perspectives that we apply to things we label that restrict them. Hippie is simply the easiest label to apply to this conversation as we have probably all been associated with the label in one way or another at some point in our journey. To qoute Shakespeare "What's in a name? A rose by any other name would smell as sweet." It is still important, however, to remember to be impeccable in your word, because like all other things we do, or say, or are, words carry energy, so we need to watch what it is we are sending out there into the universe. No one is seeing that I am not saying anything bad about hippies or the word.
I am talking about LABELS and how limiting and detrimental they are to individual evolution. We cant pick and choose which labels are ok and not ok. The concept of labels doesnt belong in nature. Thats waht I am saying. I am using hippie as an example only because I experience the effects of that label first hand.
Does anyone get that? Detach yourselves from the word hippie and think about labels vs specific characterisitics.
I am not attacking or having a go, I am just trying to show an alternative.
It seems no one wants to discuss that, they just want to defend the subjective use of a word.

I can't consider myself to be a hippie, (my girlfriend definitely so) but I've never had anything negative come to mind when I hear the word, anyone who looks at them as a whole would be hard pressed to come up with anything negative about them, aside from those who are mostly miserable people to begin with *such as the fucking dumb asses on the internet that SE posted about in the other thread*

Welcome Chuck! I would Love to do some long term traveling, unfortunately, my kids and travel do not go hand in hand. We drove to L.A. last year. An 8 hour trip turned into an 11 hour trip and everybody was miserable...... Maybe when they grow up and are on their own. I'll just keep a number they can reach me at and gogogo!

Incense to make dreads smell nice?

Dread Maintenance

Yup, that's what I was saying! Essential oils can be removed from the plants by various methods as well, and the method used can cause it to leave heavier residues, or next to none. I believe that those that are steamed are the lightest, although, I could be wrong, it wouldn't be the first time.... Anubis said:
I'm pretty sure essential oils use the oils of the plant. Fragrance oils will use other oils.

They use a carrier oil, like grapeseed oil, cottonseed oil and sometimes mineral oil, which is why they leave more residues.

The bigger front wheels made a big difference for my dad. Like I said, we lived in the mountains, and our property was situated so that in order to get to the water lines and stuff, we had to head up hill, since it was all gravity feed from the spring (most delicious water in the world I was lucky enough to grow up drinking!) so he put pretty big wheels on the front, although I can't remember exactly how big, it was 10 years ago that I saw his chair last. It helped alot though. He had a quickie, but I don't think he was as rough onhis as you are on yours!! He didn't get around to being that hard on it.... Not that he didn't want to, he just decided to limit himself...... In the beginning was the word, and the word was Choice. soaringeagle said:
no the quickie offroad chair is a monoshock that couldnt handle the side loads and twisting
believe it or not its invacare yea the company that always made the crappy ones
but they bought out i think it was colors in motion or something and came out with the a6s and a4 then combined the 2 into the new a4..everything on its quick release adjustable
the extreme camber on the whhels makes it extremely stable side to side so ..flying down a hill a fast turn wont flip ya sideways and it can handle pretty slanted trails without flipping (except backwards cause i need it so delicatly ballanced theres almost no weight on the front wheels and it pops a wheely if i just lean back..not the best for climbing hills though that way as u gotta lean forward and dig in to keep it from flippin..but kinda need it that way to bounce over everything easier..lil bigger front wheels would help and i might try gettin some by next year

Fair trade!! Plus, rythem, makes it way more relaxing!! I Love music when I massage! I get lost in the rythem, and it helps me communicate better with the muscles! Is it a quickie? It look similar to the one he had (my dad). Does it help to have the wheels angled out like that? The mountains are just making sure that you stay strong!!!
