help growing dread length

Dread Maintenance

Vitamin E, ftw.It helps with skin regeneration, hair growth, nail growth. It also increases sperm count. <--Fun fact.Hair only grows about 1/2in ever two months on most people. But it should stimulate growth generously.(:

Hi I'm new round these parts.

Introduce Yourself

Since your hair's pretty long, I'd say the backcombing method. Followed with the cleaning of a crochet hook. Make sure NOT to wax the dreads, at all. Don't crochet your dreads after two months, lettem' free form after that. I'm all for going natural, but since your hair's pretty long, it'd be safer, and quicker to go with the backcombing method. (:

New growth!! :D

General Talk

I used hair dye. No special one for dreads, just regular hair dye. (:You just gotta make sure you squeeze the dye into the dreads, so it soaks it all up.And since dreads, are dreads, it's gonna capture the smell if the dye for a few days, which really sucks, but hey, you're gonna have lighter dreadsss! :D Jo said:
gotta love the loops and bumps!
how did you lighten your hair? I'd love to lighten mine a bit because its so dark it looks like I just have really messy hair in most pics

Wow, I'm starting to get these little loops at the roots of the majority of my dreads. They're suppperr tight! I also lightened up a few, so they're not as dark anymore. Photos up soon! How has everyone been? I haven't been online in a while.(:

washing dreadlocks and saltwater

Dread Maintenance

Shit dude, a month? :OI've gone a whole week without washing.I get bad dandruff if I don't wash every 3-4 days.:xAnd as for the salt water, I'm not entirely sure.I know that it hardens your dreads for sure, but you're supposed to rinse your dreads after they've been soaked with salt water.

I couldn't agree more with you. :'(And no, sorry, I don't.But if you sign up for a youtube account, we can be friends on there!:DAnd you can also help other knotties with their dreads with text comments!:DDD Knottysleeves said:
I hate to tell him, but yeah, if he stops waxing then his "dreads" WILL come apart... because he doesn't have dreads to begin with. It's pretty obvious from the video that he just has sections of straight hair glued together with wax. :-(

Good to see he's trying to get all the info though. Unfortunately the wax makers prey on people's fears that their hair will look ridiculous & not "stay together" if they don't use wax -- they can be really persuasive, sadly.

Oh yeah, Jonny Clean isn't endorsing anything, LOL! *rolls eyes*

Matthew, do you have another link for your video? I can't access it without Google demanding I sign up for a Youtube account, which I don't want to do.
