I am officially back!

WHOOO HOOOOO! I am officially a dreadhead again! My hopefully forever set was born on Saturday August 4 2012. I am the proud mother of 57 new baby dreadies! My old set was 27 dreads that were not sectioned well (lost of bald spots) and too thick and just uncomfortable this new set is much smaller and nicely sectioned thanks to my wonderful best friend Natalya and while my hair is shorter than I would have liked. I know it will grow and they will mature nicely!

I will add some photos this week of the process and the finished ones and how they look after a few days. They were done using a little backcombing to start the section then twist and rip the length of it and just a tiny bit of maintenance is done when bored by twist and rip or a small crochet (ONLY used to stop unraveling)since twist and rip doesn't want to work on my hair on the last 2 inches. The hook is used gently and NEVER on the shaft of the dread or roots.

I also tell everyone I over hear talking about wanting dreads to this site and I am thankful I found it back in 2009 when I attempted to start some with wax removed it and started over. Now these will be left to the neglect method and only small maintenance BS and ACV washes! I am soooo Happy to be back I missed having dreads! I missed you guys.

It will be interesting to see how these are received. I was baptized Mormon on March 17th and typically this look is not as welcome as a wholesome look but I found a dreadhead mom with a blog and she loved opening peoples minds to a dreaded Mormon so I am looking forward to it. Fun times and dread beads are in my future I AM SOOOOO EXCITED!!!!!

Well almost! I am coming back!!! I cut my first set because I made them too thick... This next set is going to be thinner I am hoping to double the number of dreads i had last time... from 27 to hopefully 60. I have missed you all dearly and can't wait to be back in the Dreaded world!

In other updates of my life! Many of you know I was having issues with my little brother doing drugs and my parents not believing my suspicions. He passed away a year ago July 27th from a overdose on Meth and Heroine. It's been rough but I am getting through.

On a more upbeat note I got rid of the loser ex and married a really great guy! That's right! I am married! My husband Jared is wonderful!

I own my own business as a Face Painter/ Balloon Twister for birthday parties and corporate events. Faces-in-Disguise. I LOVE it! I am going to go to school for Special FX Makeup so I will be moving to Pennsylvania! FINALLY getting out of this AZ heat! I can't wait! Hopefully will be going in August. If not August, then February... As much as I want out of this heat, I think I would die moving to PA in February. I have lived in AZ for 15 years and am not used to the cold weather any more.. My husband has never lived anywhere but AZ so he is in for a surprise.

I have several business ideas rolling around in my head so I hope to get my Special FX business going and can do it part time to my party entertainment business! I AM BURSTING I am so excited!

While I am excited I have moments where I get down but I am happy to be back in this world.. I was much happier when I was a Dreadhead, I have found it hard lately to feel love for everyone and I am hoping to bring that back in my life some more!

Okay now I am rambling and I am happy to be coming back and I miss you all!

I thank you for your kind words. It is hard to grasp that he is gone, even though he has been gone for the past two years because of the drugs. I am thankful to have such a wonderful man in my life to lean on and while I temporarily have the job in Phoenix the opportunity to get down there from my new home in Mesa to see my parents. I am worried about them as this is the second child they have lost. My sister between my brother and I was a still born, Also died in July and my Maternal Grandmother died one year and a day before my sister. Needless to say my mother does not like July. We are trying to forget the past two years and and remember the wonderful Ben we knew before them.

Thank you again for your kind words and despite not having my dreads anymore, I am working on growing my hair out again for a new set. I will linger around here and let you all know about his foundation when I get that up and running.

7/26/2011 Update: Ben is currently still on life support. However his Brain is gone. Ben in all his humor and silliness was gone before he arrived at the hospital. Cause of death was a drug overdose. He is being prepped for his organs to be donated so that out of this tragedy we can hopefully save others. Sometime tomorrow we will say goodbye to the shell that managed to harness his craziness and it will go to help other families in need. As heartbroken as I am I want not to dwell on the negative but remember the good times we all shared with my silly little brother. I am planning on starting a foundation to raise awareness for addiction and promote musical and other creative outlet education. I ask if anyone has any ideas or wishes to help to please contact me. So that hopefully we can save even more lives. I will update with more details for memorial services. Until then, I and my family appreciate with all our hearts the thoughts and prayers you have sent. We could not ask for better family and friends.

At 9:28p on 7/28/11 we said our final goodbyes to Ben. His liver, pancreas, kidneys and lungs are going to 4 people who will be given the gift of life. He will always always always be in our hearts and minds.

I will always love you baby brother. I will think about you every single day! I will honor your memory and love for music by sharing your story with the world!

This is just a small glimpes of what my brother was like before the drugs. He is the one asking for her hand in marriage with a piece from his Tuba.

Here is a note from my Mother...

As many of you already know we have lost our wonderful talented and loving son, Benjamin, to drugs, he was declared clinically brain dead on Wednesday and today we let him go. As a family we decided to try to make some sense of this tragedy and have something good come from it by donating his organs, he will be helping 4 people get their lives back. Please try to understand what drugs will do to a person. We don't for one minute believe Ben did this on purpose or to hurt us, but got involved in something that he thought he could control and that is what we wanted to believe too. Thank you for all your prayers and kind words. Fred, Sara and I will survive this with your help. We love you all. We love you Benjamin. We will miss you more than you can ever imagine.

on Tuesday Morning my little brother was rushed to the hospital, he had overdosed and they found Meth and Heroin in his system. He has yet to come to. He is being cooled to try to save his brain because we dont know how long he was out before the paramedics arrived. They are giving him 24 hours to reduce the swelling in his brain then slowly start warming him up to try and hopefully get some brain activity. I know there are lots of positive people on here so I am just asking for extra positive support! Keep him in your thoughts and prayers that he recovers. He is only 20 years old and has a whole life to live. Thank you in advance. I have had my concerns about him for the past 2 years and those concerns fell on ears that didn't want to admit I was right, Now I pray they didn't realize it too late. I am feeling helpless so I thought I would ask for the help in the positive thoughts.

So I have been a dreadie now for nearly 2 years 1 year and 9 months and29 days to be exact.... Due to the thickness of my dreads and the extream heat we have been having in AZ my dreads were looking very rough! I felt like I was in a rut and I needed to start over.. better sectioning thinner more feminine looking... so I took the plunge and cut them off... I cried but my hair was in really bad shape... I did not start with wax on this set and just used Baking Soda and Apple Cider Vinegar washes. I did dye them using regular dye and I think that is what really did them in so next time I will use Henna instead... Here is some photos of the process.

As you can see so much loose hair and really thick dreads, took like 2 days to dry fully only for me to shower and start the process over again. I am lucky it is dry in AZ otherwise I would have mold like crazy!

Here is the new do and I love it... Very different but going to start growing it again for a new healthier set

I will still be lingering on here so don't worry I am not gone for good now that I don't have my own dreads. I will still be envious of all of yours!

Soon I will be back with a new set!

Oh and yes... I did cry before I got to the salon... I was freaking out but it was time...

HEY EVERYONE! It has been forever since I have had the time to get on here. Lots going on moved to Mesa, AZ still work in North Phoenix at Wells Fargo only now I am an admin instead of on the phones!

Biggest change of a lifetime... My boyfriend and I have the opportunity to work with a personal trainer for free for a year. It has been 3 days so far and I am so sore I cannot move my arms hardly at all. It is especially painful to pull my hair back. We work out with them 3 days a week and have to start with a healthy detox. Their goal is 3 months and 80 lbs lost. This is like biggest loser status workouts!

Our trainers are a husband and wife team who felt that they needed to offer their passion for fitness to someone who felt it was a lost cause. They do this out of their garage. They posted an ad on Facebook and not 4 minutes after they posted their offer we responded and they graciously accepted both of us not just one of us. I am hating it right now because I am in so much pain but that is because I have never really used my arms I suppose.

My Dreads are 19 months right now and going great! New pictures to hopefully come soon especially some of my new body. At the moment it is broken hardcore! I miss you all like crazy and I will be on more soon!

I work in a call center for Wells Fargo. It isnt as long as Maternity leave only a couple weeks maybe 4 I think...

I need to get some new photos up soon. I look at the photos everyday for inspiration because I just love dreads. Can't wait until mine are 20 years old

I just wanted to pop in and tell you all I miss you! It has been a while since I have been able to post much new stuff.. I pop in everyday to look at photos and check a couple discussions but I haven't been able to really post anything exciting. I am at 16 months with my babies and there is a guy at my work who has had his for 20 years. I haven't gotten the opportunity to talk to him yet because our schedules are different and he has been on paternity leave.

So anyway Hello everyone! Miss being on actively everyday and I miss you're smiling faces :D
