fine hair

Dread Maintenance

My hair is really fine as well. It seems to be on a good pace as long as I can curb my expectations. People will say that fine hair does not lock without lots of maintanance but I just think we need to be more patient than the thick hair folks. After all, everyones hair is trying to be dreadlocks, some just takes longer.I would recommend lots of salt water rinses. I don't really do them cause I just really don't like ANY maintenance. I have so much more to experience in my life than fuss over my hair. I wash it a couple times a week or sometimes just once a week but thats about it.

Newbie here!

Introduce Yourself

Welcome April, great to have you.Wise choices so far, and yes your dreads will do just fine if you allow them to do what they want to do. After all they are a part of you aren't they. Your body should be a democracy. Don't let your brain make all the decisions, let your whole body be what it wants to be.Have fun!

What happened to the "Last reply by" prompt in the posts?I think that was a good feature. Is there a reason why it was taken out? Buggy maybe?

Great vision sister, lots of power, now you just need to ground it before you blow a fuse.Start small.Pick one aspect of theatre production that you have a gift for and think of a service that you can offer that doesn;t require any huge overheads or unattainablr resources. Use that grand vision to drive you and you can build and build to your dream. Just make sure you are having fun. Izzy-licious said:
yeah I have been looking at the things I like to do. It's a slow process trying to work them into something that can work as a business. I want to own my own theatre. And I am working on my degree for theatre production and taking some business classes to supplement and If I never own my own theatre I know I want to do something that brings lots of people together in a community kind of way. If I can break free of the corporate society and be debt free I want to travel and meet and help as many people as I can. Share and brighten their day with art and preformances... (sounds like a traveling theatre troupe) I know I will figure it out it's just going to take some time to get there. My boss just makes me nuts cuz she won't stick to one schedule and I have to be the face person for people and it;s just annoying... I need to get back into my house and my own bed so i can get some real sleep and get my life back in order and get to work on my art again.

As for the fan its not that she wont let me, I just can't haul it in and out since I need it for the house as well :D

It may appear that things are grim in the climate of this economy. I feel the pressure in my business all the time. However it is just a massive shift. Its actually a good thing. It is like a massive economic cleanse. The businesses that will survive are the ones that are willing and able to be dynamic and innovative. It seems as though your boss is out of touch and is not willing to change with the flow. She is a sinking ship. Do what you feel comfortable doing in terms of your current job but start looking for something new. What do you like to do? What are you good at? How can you combine those things and turn it into an appealing service? The only job that is truly secure is the job that you create for yourself. I personally would rather make 50 thousand a year working for myself than make 200K working for someone else. Use this situation as an opportunity to shift into something wonderful. Don't settle for less than what you know your worth.Create your own reality, dont wait for soeone else to create it for you. You'll be fine if you keep a healthy perspective. The best way to get results in your life is to work on yourself. The more you work on yourself and raise your vibration, you will attract more of what you really want into your life.

Introduce Yourself

Welcome brother!Dont worry about it too much. You may need a wax removal down the road but if you really only did it once it is unlikely.Backcombing is really only going to give you temporary dreads. If you keep maintaining them with similar methods all you are doing is maintaining manmade dreads until the natural process takes over.If you just let them go for now they will most likely fall out of their temporary knots and knot on their own in the sections your hair prefers. Some people's hair knots really quickly so their hair dreads while it is still mostly backcombed together. This gives the illusion that backcombing "makes" dreads. Its just circumstantial.Let it do what it does and the hair will eventually find its home among the emerging locks. Be patient and don't let anyone tell you you do not have dreads because you aren't "making" them. Everyones hair will dread without brushing it so evryone's hair is in a perpetual state of trying to dread. Just allow your hair to dread at its pace.Of course there are relatively safe alternatives like twist and rip if you really can't wait. Its a wonderful exercise in patience though and so rewarding to see natural progress. You and nature have co-created a blueprint for yourself. All you have to do is allow it to grow and evolve.Good luck brother.Lots of loveDidjP.S.I am sure someone else can post relevant links for you, I am on my way out the door. Peace

Couple Questions and Comments

Dread Maintenance

When I do the Baking soda rinse I dont just stand in the shower. I can see that getting pretty boring. I just use a one gallon jar full of water to wet my hair as I lean over the shower or sink. Then I fill the jar with the baking soda mix and dump it over in the same fashion. I let the rinse drip out for a couple minutes and then put a towel over my back like a cape. The I just go and do my thing for a while. You know didj, guitar, comp work, meditate, whatever. Then I go and rinse it out in the shower and scrub the rest of me.I think sleeping on them may appear to "set them back" in the beginning, but I am finding that as time goes on it is actually helping them knot.

Substance abuse: Medicinal vs. Recreational

General Talk

We are all part of the great whole, and our bodies are microcosms of the planet. The reason there is so much planetary destruction is due to the rampant self destruction that people are "choosing" to partake in. Self destruction is not a right it is an ability. We are given free will so that we can make the choices that will further our personal and collective evolution. Free will is a priveledge and it must coincide with great responsibility. Love is mutual benefit. AliveAsTheDead said:
The way I see it, so long as it doesn't effect anyone else it shouldn't matter how much cannabis a person uses. I mean, we could go to raw eating and all that to make our chances of living longer greater, but there is also the choice to be destructive to your own body..some people take this power very seriously. Also, my thoughts on the scientific manipulation of cannabis strains would be that so long as its organically grown, there's nothing wrong with it. In fact, in my opinion highly potent cannabis might not be available if not for these scientific advances...we'd still be smoking weak stuff that would take a pillow case's worth to get you stoned! haha
