weak spots

Dread Maintenance

hey so i have some weak spots in some of my dreads and i was wondering if there was a way to get some knots in there. when i say weak spots it just feels like halfway through the dread there's straight hair for like an inch, and then back to the knotted dread. im guessing its just a screw up from my backcombing, but to the question is there a way to get it knotted up.

loose tips

Dread Maintenance

k well i would say that about 2 inches of my dread is not knotted at all, just feels like my hair before dreads were put in. and then about 2 inches of my dread is knotted up. will the loose hairs knot up. i am not talking about blunted tips because it seemed that all the water got trapped indread and it sooner or later came out, so all my ends are loose ended. its just that some of my ends are significantly bigger and seem to never knot up. if half the dread is undone, will the loose hairs ever start knotting? and also are there any tips to get the loose half dreaded?

loose tips

Dread Maintenance

i have about 1.5 inches of loose hair on my ends on a few dreads. i used the backcomb method, and im afraid the loose hair will grow untill the whole dread just falls apart. the loose hair is really straight and not even close to being knotted up. my dreads are about 5 inches long with about 2 inches knotted up around the middle of dread. any tips to knot up ends?

Is it still there?

Dread Maintenance

word. ya i am not hating on wax its just i dont like it in my hair. i hated it when people would want to touch it and just say eww when they did. but right know i just want my dreads to fatten up and i think that the wax from the first time i used it is still keeping it together. well i guess i will just go on with my everyday activities and normal washings and sooner or later the dreads will fatten up. thanks for the posts. peace

Is it still there?

Dread Maintenance

so i first used wax when i got my dreads. i used the backcomb twist method and then put a little wax on each dread. its been about a month and a week, and i shower every third day. i havnt done any deep cleaning or anything, just been using anti-residue shampoo and gently rubbing throughout dreads. is the wax still in my dreads? the dreads have gotten any fatter so im assuming the wax is still in there. also are they any tips or anything for those who made the same mistake i did, by using wax? like did it every come out with normal washings? and once the wax was out what were some results?

washing

Dread Maintenance

hey guysi have had my dreads for about a month now and they are feeling pretty locked up. they have a lot of loose hair on the scalp and also it seems that they are hairs about a inch long coming out of the dread. after doing some research it seems like all my results are pretty normal and stuff and that with time the hairs will soon rejoin dread. well i wash my hair about every third day, and i was wondering if that is too much? the dreads dont seem like they are becoming looser, it just seems that my head is becoming alot more messy. i just want to make sure thats its ok to wash that often and that my dreads will still be able to mature if i just leave them alone but still wash every third day?

how long loose hairs

Dread Maintenance

hey guys i was just wondering when did your loose stray hairs begin to attach to its neighbor dread? to help clarify the question, how long did it take for the stray hairs to knot up with its fellow dreads if u just let it do its own thing.

Stages?

General Questions

i got my dreads the backcomb method and used bees wax, i hated the wax and tried to get it out the first few days, but it never fully came out, right now the wax is fully out, and my dreads are starting to get thicker (which i like). i can tell that my dreads are started to knot up and i am just slowly waiting for knot to catch all the other hairs. my hair is slightly curly and thick. i shower about every third day. do u have any tips to increase the locking process, or does all take about the same time?
