how often do you wash your locks?

Dread Maintenance

So I have really really bad dandruff, and an itchy scalp after one day. I put neem oil mixed with olive oil on my scalp (tried not to get it on my dreads) as neem is fantastic for really really bad psorisis. where I put the neem is fantastic!! hasn't been itching! but i've had to wash my dreads a few times to strip the oils.

Dread Maintenance

I think it's true! I mean, my hair before dreaded had to be washed daily (because I had fine hair curls) but also it got rediciulously oiiily.

soooooo this thread got me looking up hair washing on google and i came across some interesting stuff. im not sure how credible it is though. btw i know some people hate labels(like myself) but for the sake of simplifying this i'll use labels. i saw a site comparing hair washing times between white people and black people in reference to hair type. it mentioned that in "white" hair it gets oily faster which causes people to wash more often and stop oil buildup and residue in their head. is there any truth to this, and does it go the same way for locks? one person even said they wash their hair twice a day every day.

I was mine once every 2 days. sometimes 3 if I can stretch it. my hair gets oily quite quickly.

I'm finally dreaded!

Introduce Yourself

I've been wanting this since I was 14. I did a class project on dreadlocks. Been wanting them ever since.

I washed my hair in dr.bronners leading up to getting them formed, I've got fine curly hair, with TONES of split ends so not much backcombing (With a plastic comb) was needed before they gave shape!!
I didn't use any wax, I've been washing them with Margaret river hemp soap bar, and giving them a salt spray I made with 1cup hot water, 1tbs sea salt, 1tsp lemon juice, few drops of aloe vera, and some essential oils - they seem to be tightening well!

I used to be on hipforums years and years ago when soaringeagle was on it, but I went there for some advice about my roots(as they've come very loose - like 2inches of lose hair on a few of them) but just got holla'd with abuse. I remembered it being a really cool place to discuss dreads!! I hope this is what this is!!

few of my dreads are still curling, which I quite like :D Whaddaya think??

Natural locking spray

Introduce Yourself

I used 1 cup hot water, to 1 tablespoon sea salt(Non Iodised), 1 teaspoon lemon juice, and a few drops of aloe, and then put a drop or two of essential oils in to give lovely fragrence.

Having too much lemon in it, may cause your hair to lighten.
I've found it's made my locks lock up really well! But I am a baby!
