To Bang or not to Bang?

General Questions

ive got longish side bangs, and in the course of a year ive dreaded and un dreaded some of it a few times as i couldnt decide if i wanted to keep it loose. i personaly prefer having some lose hair around my face so im keeping my bangs

but it is ur decision, go for it if it makes you happy. and if you chnge ur mind its not like u cant undo it!!

Dreadlocks joining at roots

Dread Maintenance

think it might be a side affct of the bleach! mine do that too on top, where ive been bleaching and dying it for years. bleach does affect tthe hair scale composition so maybe it would do something to the dreading process, the rootswont have been bleached/dyed as much an so a slightly different texture and will matt differently.

P.s turquoise hair rocks!! :D

remembering your hair before dreads

General Talk

im glad im not the only one!!

i gues we all have memories from specific pictures, relating to pin points in time!!

this is from last summer and i can just about relate to it. like i said i loved my hair as it was then and everything since up till starting dreads but idefiantlyfeel more 'ME' now then back then!! ive really 'FOUND' my self in the last 18 months as an individual and have turned so muchroundin my life, the last 5 months since ive been on my dread journey have been a kind of confirmation that i have changed my life and i AM moving on.

i am as alwaystrulyglad to have this place and you guys to relate to always!!!

remembering your hair before dreads

General Talk

so, me and a friend were remanising and doing the old 'remember this time last year' chat, talking about how much things have changed. well shes 8 months pregant and moving in with her partner end of the month and im, well im not a mess.aside from that we were talking bout photos from epic nights out this time last year. wen i got home i started looking through them and the first thing i thought was 'were are my dreads' but at the time that was me, that was just how i looked and how i wanted to look . it just soo different, can i have changed so much without realising?I loved, like adored my hair back then and still love it but it feels so different from ME now,i know people change alot in a year anyway but it seems like im looking at a completely different person. obviously i look different because of the physical difference of haveing dreads but, the reacion i have mentaly to old pictures of me is... well kinda detatched, like that was from 'before' somehow!!just wondering if anyone else looks at old pics and thinks differently of those old pictures now

Dreadlocks Journey Emotional Support

Yey for your mum!!

well i wear a lot of silk or material scarfs makes it feel a it more like its up, like you still have something in your hair!!

and also can distract if she feels concious if it itsa bit wild. throw a bright or patterned one on and off you go!!

havea few pics on my profile if it helps!!

i kinda relate tho my problem was dyeing my hair,

where i have the bright colours in my hair i was topping up the colour twice a week at one point, making uber sure that the colour waas solid and bright as i hate the look of poorly dyed hair, if ur gona do it - do it right

think i kinda got a complex about it, bit of an addiction to having perfect hair. i love my crazily coloured hair, its a part of me as much as my dreads are now!!

, but since i started my dreads and i dont condition my hair anymore my colour lasts so much longer i dont have to re dye for the best part of a month.

for me the 'letting go' of having dreads has shown me that i can have 'my' hair but not have to panic about it!!

i used to dye the rest of my hair black and now ive got a good 3 inches of root, the last time i dyed it ws jus before i TnRd my dreads in, so itskind of its own time line!!!

let yourself be addicted to the beauty of what your hair can do on its own!! its amazing!

Just the Tips

General Questions

i duno if its different for more mature locs but ive dyed mine ( both bleached and semi permenant colour) but mine are only 3 months but my dyed dreads are exactly the same as my un-dyed ones so hasnt affected the dreading process!!!. the only thing id really say if you arent experienced with dying in general is got steady with how much u put on your hair at a time, put a lil on and see how much it covers then you can dd more.if you slick it on you might end up with a gooey over saturated mess ***personal experience, crazy colour is the consistancy of thick PVA glue! HELL to wash out if you over do it*** works fine once you work out quantitys!!!
