I Need Some Information

Dreading Methods

Ok two more question. What kind of shampoo/conditioners are off limits for twists/dreads.

So the process should go like this. I get my twists, do nothing to them except wash 1 to 3 times a week. And after 3-5 months, they should loc. Once they loc, I separate my dreads, as my hair continues to grow. Did I get anything wrong?

Ok thank you. I've never heard of the popping method, so can you describe it for me, or please give me a youtube video.

And what do you mean by just let it dread, like not comb it and just let my hair do its thing?

Dreading Methods

Hi, first of all I would like to say I'm new to the site and from the information that i've read, i've learned a lot. To start things off, I'm black and currently dont have dreads. I've been growing my hair out since last February. I wasnt always sure I wanted dreads so I twisted my hair using the two strand twist method. However I didn't know I could grow my dreads while having the twists, so I kept on untwisting them. I first twisted my hair on January 7th 2012, then February 12 2012, and April 1 2012. As of now I have a small afro and now committed to getting dreads using the two strand twist method. So now here are my questions:I've read here that retwisting is bad, so what do I do to my twists once my hair grows? How long will it take for my twists to loc?How often should I wash my twists? What are some safe hair products to used to curl and add sheen to them? Also, what are alternative ways for me to get my dreads?Sorry for the many questions and thank you all for your help!!!
