Shampooing Question

Dread Maintenance

Ok so when I used to wash my hair before I got my twists in things were easy. Now, it seems sort of difficult to properly shampoo my hair with the twists in, because the shampoo doesn't seem to lather no matter how hard I try.

So my question is, can I dilute the shampoo with water, and pour it over my head and then rinse it out?

If so, what is the shampoo to water ratio I should use?

I'm using "Lockin Up Liquid Shampoo Nag Champa" by the way.

I guess its a factor of misinformation. That's what the average people see, so they want to imitate it I guess. I think it'll die down over time, once the truth reaches the masses.

Yeah I would've fell for it but luckily I found the right info. I wouldn't want to deal with over-twisting anyway as people only do it to try and make them perfect. I don't care for a super maintained/manicured look. I hope each dread looks unique and different.

Introduce Yourself

My name is Taylor and I joined this site after doing numerous google searches on the processes of growing dreads; eventually, those searches lead me to this site. I've been growing my hair out since February 4th, 2011, and decided after my last haircut on that day that I wanted to do something with my hair. I really didn't care for braids but I wasn't sure about dreads yet as I knew nothing about them, but always loved how they looked. So it was about April of this year in which I decided to let my hair dread. I currently have two strand twists (since May 25th) and plan on letting my hair do its thing.

So, I just want to end it saying this is a great site (much respect for SE creating this and giving great information) and I can't wait to see how my hair is in a few months.

Maintenance Question

Dread Maintenance

Oh ok, thanks for that info, I don't want them to combine just at this moment so I was a bit worried.

Maintenance Question

Dread Maintenance

As I was looking around, I have another question. As you can see in the last pic I posted, you can still see my scalp. My twists aren't stuck together or anything but hair is growing at the roots and getting pretty close to the other sections. So do I focus on separating now, or once my hair locs?

Maintenance Question

Dread Maintenance

Yeah I've learned a lot from just browsing the forums alone!

Before I asked my questions, I didn't know palm rolling would be a bad thing, but now I will avoid it all together and do what SE told me and just continue to wash and separate.

Yes no wax whatsoever, and thank you :)

I will go ahead and look around for the shampoo he recommended, and stop using the one im using now.

Thank you for the helpful information !! :)

Maintenance Question

Dread Maintenance

Yeah thats true, but at least I didn't do any harm to my hear such as adding gel or anything. It's hard to come by reliable information. I'm glad I cross this website though.
