8.5 months dreads progress report plus questions...

Dreads Hair and Scalp Health

thank you soaring eagle! I was hoping to not see much shrinkage :). I sure do have lots of wrigglies and loops and all that. and loving it! :)

I don't really think my soreness comes from over separating, since i really don't separate much, but more like constant even pulling of hair :/

8.5 months dreads progress report plus questions...

Dreads Hair and Scalp Health

Hello everyone! Time flies by when you are.busy. I'm at 8.5 months into my dread journey :)I have been mainly washing 2~3 times per week with dreadlockshampoo's dragon's blood shampoo bar and acv rinse. Clarifying shampoo twice a month(just keeping residue under control).Anyways, I've been dealing wig this certain issue for a long time... But my scalp is sore here and there because of uneven tension on my scalp. I particularly don't have thick dreads, so that couldn't be the reason. I also thought that its because I started them with tnr, and it was too closed to the scalp, but I dojt think that could be it, since its been a while since I started. Is there anything I can do to stop the soreness? And also, I don't know how much to separate my hair. I know that Baba said that there should be some hair dreaded together at the roots, but how much? I don't want them to all Congo. I also don't want to over separate. what's the best thing to do here? And last but not least, I have very short dreads(2~3 inches). When I first started, my hair was like 2.5 inches long. Will I have shorter shrinking stage, since I started when my hair was super short? I know it varies with everyone, but wanted to hear your opinions. My loose hair is about 5~6 inches by the way. Thanks so much for your opinions and have a happy dreaddy days/nights!

White powdery residue on the surface of my dreads :'(

Help! Save My Dreads

Thanks for the reply SE!I sleep on wool pillow case that I crocheted. I highly doubt that its the gel that I had started them with, since all them fell out with few wash. And I also used clarified shampoo several times on my hair before. Only thing that I had been putting in my hair lately is dreadlocks shampoo bar, karma locking gel, bs and acv.

what are u sleeping on? could it be like lint more then what u wash with?

ohh had to peek at your profile again

could it be the gel from when u started? maybe a clarifying shampoo would do the trick?

White powdery residue on the surface of my dreads :'(

Help! Save My Dreads

Thanks for the reply! My dreads are still young, just hit the 7 months Mark. And they are very short(between 2 inches to 3 inches). So its quite difficult to only wash the scalp... I wish I could!I will try rinsing them longer and see what happens.

yeah...something is leaving residue. Try rinsing out dreads longer? I only actually was my "dreads" every month or two....you only need to be washing your scalp every time.

White powdery residue on the surface of my dreads :'(

Help! Save My Dreads

Hello everyone! I need a bit of your opinions and thoughts on my problem with my dreads.I have noticed yesterday that I have white powdery residue on some of my dreads. I tried to scratch them off, but it got worse(of course).I have been washing my hair with baking soda with lavender and rosemary oil, plus Apple cider vinegar. But I recently switched to dreadlocks shampoo bar, which I love.Does anyone have any idea what they could be? Or what I should do to get rid of them?I have never put wax in my hair, by the way.Thank you everyone!Love, Angela
