long term affects of wraping dreads

Dread Maintenance

Great, Thanks for the advice everyone!. Maybe I will just use beads instead, they seem like less trouble.

long term affects of wraping dreads

Dread Maintenance

I've been thinking about wrapping all my dreads, I still have lots of loose hairs though. Will doing so help the dreading process or hinder it?

how to make my dreads longer!

Introduce Yourself

As far as I know there isn't much you can do. They are short bc they are knotting up which is a good thing. I am experiencing a lot of shrinkage along my nape as well. Try searching the forum for SHRINKAGE you'll notice that shrinking is just part of the journey. It seems like many of us including myself had no clue about the potential of shrinkage until it starts happening to your own locks....lol.Happy dreading! :)

what you guys think

General Talk

Hmm..yea I wonder too. My dreads at the nape of my neck are really flat and I wonder if they will ever round out. Maybe wrapping them would alter the shape over time??

Wow that's pretty awful. It definitely doesn't look healthy or attractive.

Strangers who touch your hair without asking...

Life Issues Facing Dreads

Funny. This reminds me of a post I read on mothering.com about strangers coming up and touching pregnant women's bellys without asking. Weird! One persons response was to reach out and grab the offenders belly in the same manner so they can feel for themselves how rude and weird it is to be touched without asking. Haha. Same tactic could be used for your hair too I guess lol

Dread Maintenance

agreed. I didnt use any with my first batch, this time Im adding essential oil of Spruce. The smell is heavenly :) I really want to get some aloe gel to add to it too.

Might be worth adding some essential oils too!

homemade flax lock up gel

Dread Maintenance

Okay so I tried out my Flax gel goo last night. It worked really really well and I love the results. Only thing is that in some spots it got kind of flaky so thats no good. I read that cooking the mixture to long and using too much flax makes the gel too thick so it will cause flaking. Im going to try my hand at it again later today. My first batch I used 1/2 cup flax to 2 cups water. I will try 1/4 cup flax to two cups water and see if that works better.
