Urgent problem.

Introduce Yourself

You can wrap that dread in the area that separates, then they will join back together for you, other than that, all I know is that time will fix it. Peace

Hi Keenan. It hurts your scalpwhen You attempt to loop it through itself because you should not be doing it. The tension causes hairs to pull out, leading to thin dreads and balding. Looping dreads also pulls out hairs, so you should not do that either. I know that you get a good look right away, but damage gets done. Your type of hair, curly, is the quickest type not naturally dread. Roots need to be loose in order for the dread to move, so that is okay. Wax to form dreads is not recommended if she used any, wax holds in smells, lint and water inside the dread. It also stains pillow cases and shoulders of clothing. All you need to do now is let them be to do their own thing, separate if any try to join together, and remove wax if any was used. Have worry free hair and enjoy your journey

what's your opinion on dreadheadhq?

General Talk

Just went on their site to read it for the first time. The look is good, easy to find all the misinformation. Wow, I can't believe people give into the shit they read on there. Wash for the first month with a stocking cap on your head? WTF....so for a month, your scalp crap will be absorbed into the dread instead of being washed out? Ew.....Waxing and palm rolling- lucky the wax is in the dreads so the scalp crap that won't get washed off because of a stocking cap will have something to stick to when it enters the dread.

We all have choices how to dread and what information we want to follow. People who want a funky journey and healthy dreads for life will read this site and never look back.

Peace

Out of the shadows...

Introduce Yourself

Yep, you should be washing every 2-3 days. At least your hair is sectioned so let them be. All you need to do is keep them clean and separate any that join together. What you have now will loosen first and then start dreading. So if you want natural dreads, you get to save your money. Happy times

new sandlewood and tonka bean dreadlocks shampoo

Dread Products

Hey Soaring Eagle, when ordering bars, is there a way that we can let her know that we are a member of this site and learned of them here? Is it dreadlock shampoo or bars in the sandlewood/tonka bean? Thanks, peace to you

Am I balding?? Need help please

Dread Maintenance

Hi Dez. Sorry to hear about your hair loss, but it is an unfortunate outcome of retwisting dreads. Every time your locks are twisted, hairs are pulled out by the roots, or broken elsewhere in the dread. This causes thinning of the dread and even dreads falling off. Palmrolling only causes breakage and very temporary tidyness, very temporary, so don't do this anymore either. Your hair will recover with time, new hairs will need to grow and thicken up your dreads at the scalp, but only if you stop going to a salon, twisting & palmrolling.. No hooks either, just let them be and they will become happy for you.

Burts Bees?

Dread Maintenance

Hi there. Don't know which one you are using. I looked on their website and noticed their shampoos add shine, moisturizes, When locks are still forming, you don't want to use any shampoos that will encourage your knotting & looping to slip out. Did you by chance read the dreaducation page at the top of the site, washing tips etc will be found there. Happy Dreading

When will my pretties grow again?

General Questions

Forgot to mention, the longer the hair, the more shrinkage there is, so the appearance of growth will take longer.

When will my pretties grow again?

General Questions

Hi Taylor. It sucks that we loose length for hair to dread. Know it needs to, but it still sucks. It takes about two years to notice growth. Our hair grows all through the journey, but because it is shrinking, we don't notice it. But by year two, most of us will have somewhat mature locks, so no more shrinking, just growth.
