Expressing ourselves and the dreadheads we are!

General Talk

Well today for the first time I got the chance to catch up with the discussion and supposed discussion between dreads uk vs. dreadlockssite and well i went through all 9 pages of it and well I realized people, by majority were being objective and decided to express themselves.

And well I love discussions, I used to hate them but throughout hs my closest bud was the actual best bsing and discussion member of my graduating class, and a lot rubbed off after all the years haha. But discussions are done in order to have people discuss(talk and argue) with each other in a respectful manner to reach a conclusion or to exchange different views. So a conclusion isn't always reached. I would have loved to see that. But well it seems that arranging a time seemed too complex.

I feel that closing it was kind of an effort to kill of members from expressing themselves and arguing against SE. Again I respect SE and think he is a great man, but he does come off as close minded a lot of times.

If you are arguing and you have clearly lost you should acknowledge and move on, not a big deal. I can volunteer to set up a date, I don't think it's too hard sending messages to both of you seeing when you have free time and setting up something, it doesn't have to be a complicated 10-20 people video it gets confusing and too complicated. Just a discussion, no proving wrong or that something is evil and bad, truly it does not matter ppl just want to see a discussion and knowledge being shared from both sides.

I've been member of this site since I stated dreading about ten months ago, of course I chose natural as it seemed the one that meant more of a spiritual journey and a way to rid myself of the vanity still inside of me(though there might still be some inside). The way the other side is described seems to be very harsh, and yes they are harmful most of us here know it but some people just don't care and its their decision to continue specially if they haven't seen the consequences after a couple years of it. I think as Tara explained in one of her replies, saying that wax 'is evil' or whatever seems to come from a closeminded person, which i would think SE is not, and also as wax has other uses (candles and stuff). Also SE you seem to call out ppl whenever they called you out, and it would be at some small point they've made.

I believe as dreadheads we are mostly a group of open minded people, and well also sort of purist haha.

I don't do any sort of drugs, no alcohol not weed(which some don't consider a drug, but that's a different discussion) and well many of us might call alcohol evil while we still have friends and families who consume it. And they might do it in front of us and they know that its not good for them yet they still drink it because they haven't really seen the damage inside of them, or the other option is that they know the damage they just do not care and do not mind it. My father is an alcoholic i call him out all the time, but until he wants to change he will keep drinking. I cannot do anything about it. I have two options calling alcohol the devil and shunning him from my life or accept him with all his faults and imperfections and help him little by little through example and affection that he is throwing his life away. It's not helpful calling something evil if people don't mind it or do it for vanity sake, its their decision, I just want to see the discussion. Also I believe we should all be allowed to express ourselves, whenever i see an argument without any support or basis I just ignore it or respond and try to explain to the person that their argument is not helping their case.

Well just wanted to express myself as I saw others do, so if we want the discussion support this thread or write how you feel. That closed discussion had almost a hundred responses it was great

Separating question…update.

General Questions

hey man I'm also on my first dread journey, and well from what I've experienced so far the back has made lots of progress, like noticeable progress. I've always been a fetal-side style of sleeper haha, but my mattress was old and starting to give me back aches, so i threw it out and took on to the floor haha. I know it doesnt sound too comfortable, but its better than you'd think and it helps your back aches and you have to sleep straight facing forward, because other positions are just uncomfortable, but my point is that this has really helped the progress of the back of my head, got some 20+ very solid dreads at nine months. Kind of out there recommendation but, i've noticed that I've been having faster progress on the back of my head. Kind of out there advice but might help you if you had back problems haha aight luck man

Hitchhiking from Connecticut to Illinois

Alternative Lifestyles and Subcultures

Well I tried Yahoo Answers and ppl were just kinda close minded and not very helpful. I know the community here is more open minded to different styles of living so hopefully I'll be able to figure out a bit before just doing it haha. Well so basically I want to get to a town a couple miles from Chicago to visit a friend. There's no real reason other than I think it would be a hilarious surprise and I've always wanted to Hitchhike, hopefully Hitchhiking with my broskies all the way to Cali in a summer or two. But yeaa first question is what is the best place to hitch a ride? I was thinking, and have read, that rest stops or truckstops might be my best bets. How should I approach it? Like if youve ever done it, what was the way you found your ride, or how would you recommend me approaching a random trucker.

I'm expecting to do this sometime in February or March, what shoudl I pack up? I have a basic idea, but open to recommendations. There's definately not a best way to approach it but there are probably a couple tips I could benefit from.

Also forgot to mention I'm close to NYC part of Connecticut. If you can get specific and recommend what interstate or whatever is a good one that can take me close to Chicago that would be great. I know there are a couple laws against walking on the highway and what not, if you want to give them to me great if not i can always do the extra research

Thank you all

Different products, shampoo

Introduce Yourself

Thanks a lot for all the great info man. I will probs get it and do the little test you suggested

tetrasodium edta (one of the ingredients) is made by reacting ethylenediamine with formaldehyde. It is used in alot of "natural" products. It is said to be safe, but I avoid it. Taken orally it is said to cause alot of different developmental problems, but is apparently safe to use on the skin, apparently. Formaldehyde is a known carcinogen. if you use the shampoo, and it washes out quite easily that is a good sign, but if it takes ages for the water to run clean, then it is probably not ideal. I test this by cupping my hand under the hair and catching the water to see if it is clear.

peace and blessings

Different products, shampoo

Introduce Yourself

Yeaa well I made a lot of research before joining them, and the products are undoubtedly high quality, on the overpriced side, but high quality. And now a days the business has changed, andyou get different discounts so I'm sticking to the products that are worth the bang for the buck and then selling the ones i truly like or think are worth. I'm also taking a nutrition class this semester so that should help me out as well. My friend who invited me to join was kinda fooled by the 'compounding income' and just being able to afford college, but we've decided to solely focus on the sales of the products that are worth and well he already made some money off apart from his initial investment, and i have made my initial investment back so as far as we don't become consumed by the cult-like people in it we will be good. Thank you for worying tho

Introduce Yourself

Hey great dready ppl, I've been gone for a while and well thats what happens when you go to school and work. But I've learnt to manage my time much better so hopefully I'll be able to be more active again.

So actually I've joined this new kinda Avon kinda selling, because I need the extra money for college and all the products or at least a vast majority is made with all natural products and well I'm giving it a try. So my question is about the shampoo, I've been using the liquid lockin up dreadlocks shampoo, first nag champa and then dragons blood. Two bottles have lasted me about 10 months which is a pretty good bang for the buck. But yeaa, what I'm focusing is in the selling of vitamins, but there is also this all natural shampoo and well I'm almost out of my second bottle of lockin up dreadlocks shampoo and thought I might give it a try if you guys could check the products ingredient and let me know if it would be good to use for the process of dreading. I know it looks to be in the expensive side but I get a special price, and its also made up of mostly natural ingredients. But yeah not trying to advertise the products, just wondering if its worth the while trying it out

Here's the link. I just want somebody who's more knowledgeable take a look at it and let me know if it would be safe to give it a try or if it would mess with all my progress. I'm 9-10 months in going completely natural, just separating. Thanks for the help

a huge donation saved dreadlockssite but still could use more

General Talk

It's really good to hear this! I have been extremely busy the last 5 or so days so I haven't used any kind of social media other than my phone, but I was worried of all the things that were hitting this site. Well I just got a debit card on the mail today but before donating I have to change a small thing at the bank, but I'll be able to be a constant donor once my new part time starts rolling and my new business grows, so everyone just thank God because He is the one allowing this to happen. So let's make this happen, let's not make excuses let's just do it
