OK blunting tips make dreads lock better?

Dread Maintenance

i have blunted tips and yes they do dry slower but i just prefer not having to re tnr as much. plus i just squeeze them with a towel a bunch of times, shake them out real good, then blow dry them for like 10 minutes and theyre dry in less than an hour. i think loose tips look great for some people though and am even considering not doing any more touch ups on the tips to see if they all get deblunted. i do wonder if they stop the thickening though. im really lookin forward my tnr locs thickening up but if i see anyone who has blunted the tips and only done that with their tnr locs and didnt crochet the body or anything and they still didnt thicken up then i will stop blunting in a heartbeat. but i cant find anyone who has, they either just did nothing and let the tips loosen up and stuff, or they crochet the whole thing. cant find someone who's doin what im doin. just really want them to thicken up but cant find any proof whether the blunted tips alone will slow it down or not.

How can I encourage congos?

Dreading Methods

haha yeah im not proud of it. but hey it got undone so thats the important thing haha. im so happy with how they are now and the congos ive got. i was so hesitant with this site at first, i felt like i needed to do some kinda maintenance and just couldnt stop, it really was like an addiction. absolutely love how they are now though. ive been totally turned around, i love how bumpy and zig zaggy and loopy they are and everything. and i noticed the beard ones in one of your pictures, thought that was cool. i always wondered if it was possible to dread a beard haha. the hairs so stiff so i didnt know if itd work. i personally like my beard a little shaggy but not long enough to dread though.

How can I encourage congos?

Dreading Methods

i have tnr's too and i have a few congos. and the way the first couple happened was because in the beginning i made the mistake of doing maintenance. im talking crocheting, dread balling, rubber bands, the whole deal. and they looked absolutely terrible for it. and because all that was making them so thin where they should have been thick, i attempted to combine a bunch of them in an effort to make them thicker. the way i combined them was i basically sewed one dread through the center of the other and crocheted. after i finally stopped all of that, most of them came apart and i was able to restore them, a couple however stayed partially combined and thus i have congos. but i do not recommend this. since then i have a few more and they just did it by being next to eachother. and i absolutely love my congos. i was so against em at first but they just look so cool haha, the natural look has truly grown on me, no pun intended

oh cool. thats actually perfect for me cause my hairs really thick and soft. so i should be good. though i should definitely lower the salt amount haha. but yeah i basically had an ultra-soft and thick fro before the dreads lol

Salt is drying. If left on the scalp it can dry it and can cause flakes. The major concern is that in the long run it can contribute to brittleness of the hair causing it to have split ends and in a worse case scenario cause breakage of the hair. This breakage can potentially lead to dread loss....but it would have to be severe abuse of the salt. Because of the concern most people spray it on the hair (avoiding the scalp) and leave it on a few hours before washing. I don't use it often anymore. In the first year i would spray it lightly on my hair the night before i washed it. I have personally never had any problems with it. My hair is not brittle. So use it...just don't over do it.

ok so quick question. i used this and didnt really measure the amount of seasalt. just poured it in enough to mostly fill the empty two inches or so at the thinning top of the spray bottle (didnt have lemon juice). ive felt no burning but have had some mild to moderate itching. should i be highly concerned about the whole dreads fallin off thing or should i only be if it burns or is it just not that high a risk at all?
