Crisis! Missing my hair...
Dreadlocks Journey Emotional Support
I went through this phase too. Now I can't imagine not having my dreads. wait it out for another month, definitely. then you can reassess.

I have really fine blonde hair and started with tnr. I didn't have any experience with mine falling out, so I can't give much advice in that area. All I know is the bs/acv wash really did seem to help it lock up quickly. Also, how often are you washing? I washed once every three days. I would think that if you are washing more frequently than that it my be contributing to them falling out - then again, everyone's hair is different. My advice on sectioning would be not to go larger than an inch on any of them, unless of course you want really thick dreads in the end. I mean really thick. Like I said, my hair is quite fine. My baby dreads looked thin when I first put them in and I let this influence my sectioning of my hair. I sectioned a few of them with the assumption that the thickness of the baby dread would remain the thickness of the mature dread, not taking account the actual section size or the fact that they would fatten up quite a bit. So now I have a couple accidental fatty ones. You may be a little self conscious about scalp showing at first, I definitely had a few "bald" spots. But for me these filled themselves in within a couple weeks. Just be patient, they may not be what you'd like them to at first, but they will happen if you let them.
I'm in Minnesota until mid August and would be willing to help. I tnr'd mine myself and it was very difficult doing the back. I love my dreads and am happy with how they turned out, however if I were you I'd definitely consider going natural like SE suggests. A few of my sections seemed fine at first, but turned out to be all wrong after a few months of maturing. I had to brush a couple out and start them again because they were either too thick or awkwardly shaped and pulling at my scalp. Your hair has this way of knowing how to section itself exactly how it is meant to be, which we can only guess at. Like I said, I'd be happy to help, but consider going all natural.
I have very fine, blonde hair and I started my dreads using TnR a little over two months ago. Since then I have let them be, and I'm really impressed with their progress so far. The roots are still a little loose, but that's something that hasn't really bothered me. I haven't had any problems with the dread balls that earthstudios speaks of. Mine just have tons and tons of loops, which is actually something I love about them. They aren't uniform in any sense of the word. I think that part of the journey is embracing your natural hair, thin, fine, or otherwise. My hair is naturally dry so this definitely helped the process along. But good luck, and be prepared for happy surprises along the way! My dreads came out different than how I first envisioned them, but for that, i love them even more.
I had this exact same problem and Baba fats came to my rescue too! I had a gap in the back of my head and decided to let it be. I still wish I had a few more dreads back there, but It's not a problem anymore, the gap is no longer noticeable! good luck
just wanted to give a dread update, it's been almost a month since my dread emergency. This pic is from a couple weeks ago (sorry for the horrible quality). I noticed an improvement only a few days after taking the rubber bands out! no more gap, and it's looking even better every day thanks for the advice, I'm glad I just let it be
got them out! thank you thank you, I will let you know how they are doing in a few weeks
uh oh, yes those are rubber bands... I'll take them out right now! okay so just leave em be, and possibly separate a couple.. Thanks for all the advice! nobody I know has dreads so I really, really appreciate this site and all the advice and help you offer! Thank you both of you! ~peace
here's the back I'm worried about...
yes haha definitely sorry about the size confusion... I mean at the scalp they vary slightly, but yea they are typically 1/2 inch 1 inch at the very most. like i said, I have really thin hair. here is the front, I'll have to get back to you with a back one in a little bit
