PermaPost for Blog Updates

General Talk

Read your blog and it was very touching. I cannot personally empathize but my sister-in-law has suffered with similar ailments since she was 3. She was on Keppra for a long time and that shit really messes with yourpsyche. they recently put her on something else which helpsallotwith balancing out her brain chemistry. As I was reading your blog Terrance McKenna kept coming to mind. He has some really interesting things to say aboutepilepsyin shamanic traditions. Check it out. It is worth a looksie: http://www.matrixmasters.net/salon/?cat=13&paged=3 podcast 270 for the podcast version. and you can the written text here: http://deoxy.org/t_thc.htm

Crisis! Missing my hair...

Dreadlocks Journey Emotional Support

All advice iscompletelyprovisionaland all decisions are completely up to the individual. That being said, thedreadlocksjourney for me has definitely had its ups and downs. i try to keep in mind why i started down this path in the first place. I started out with more superficial reasons such as "it would be cool", or "I would look good in dreads". That was when i was 18. ididn'tstart dreading til 29!!! I just didn't have a strong enough foundation to make and maintain such a big decision. And you will never know how BIG of a decision it is until you initiate thephysicalmanifestationsof the journey and everyone is calling you "dirty hippie". The cool part comes when you can wear that badge with pride:) Take your time with it and allow the journey to define these things for you by staying in the moment as much as possible. Having dreadlocks has ushered me into anintrospectivelifestyle and really helped me to define a lot of things about myself. Hope this was helpful.

Crazy loopiness!!! :)

General Questions

That totally makes sense. I've just started telling people that it's a path I've chosen to take for now and they will probably grow used to them as they grow on me:)

General Questions

Christin, It is a journey sister:) Like every journey, we are all going to run into uncertainties. One thing I am learning on my journey is that you cannot give a SHIT what people think about you if you want to have dreads. Everyone has an opinion and the only one that truly counts is your own because ultimately that is what is shaping and defining who you are. Don't do yourself the injustice of allowing other people to define you (or your hair:) How do you feel about your dreads? What is your heart telling you? Hang in there sis. Take it one moment at a time.

Crazy loopiness!!! :)

General Questions

This Time last month this dread was this perfect four loop squigly. Just one month later and this how much it has tightened. I love it!!!! They evolve right before your eyes. i used to think they had to be perfect right away and it stressed me out to no end. Now i let them do what they want and much like you, have come to really enjoy the spontineity of their evolution. it's a beautiful thing, loops and all!

Introduce Yourself

Skill teacher should stick to the hack sack:) in one of his his "dread sessions" he is explaining how important it is to crochet carefully so that you don't rip the hair and in in the very next instant he is going at it like a frickin sowing machine! Hilarious!

Welcome back! Did everything go well with the surgery?

Nice Dreads= time plus patience. Try to remain in the present. To often I get caught up in what tomorrow will bring and miss out on the joys that today is offering to me:) Enjoy the journey.
