touching your hair

Introduce Yourself

Well, I am right on the border of Amish Country in Pennsylvania, so there aren't too many of us about. I had really long hair beefore I dreaded so people were always touching my hair (and really, who minds someone playing with their hair? There are a whole lot worse things a person can do to you, right?) Old is a state of mind, but I have to say, one of the things I like MOST about my dreads is that it really brings out the silver in my hair. I like it, and I have earned every single gray hair I have so I want them to bee seen!

touching your hair

Introduce Yourself

It's no different; people always touched my hair, usually without asking. Now at least with dreads, they ask first! What I have noticed is that womenfolk seem to clutch their purses when they see me and menfolk tend to say "hello". I'm not sure what that means. Mine are very new, though and I'm an old lady...

Opinions on the skirts I just made, please?

General Talk

I thinkthe skirt you linked to is bee-utiful. I'd pay$35.00, if I had it! Good luck. xo

I understand, thank you for your advice :)

If you are looking for a long flowing skirt, I have this wrap one that I made. (sorry my shop is so empty, I'm new to Etsy). Not trying to pressure you or anything though, just thought I'd send ya the link to let you know it's out there :D

This one costed me about 20 dollars to make so it's a bit cheaper then the 3x deal because $60 just seemed way to much for a skirt to me. Just my opinion though lol.

They're cute, but I wouldn't buy them. Nothing against the skirts. I just have five kids and still have baby weight to lose. Plus, I prefer the more flowing, longer, hippie style skirts but seriously, very innovative. I have just started looking into upcycling my clothes for when I start to lose weight. (My son just turned two and that is usually around the time that the weight starts to fall off...weird, I know but it's how my body works I guess) Clothes are too expensive and too mass produced and I have a lot of really great items that I can taper in, change the style...but I am still lagging in the creativity department, lol. If I saw your skirts on sale though, I would say that cost wise, I would expect to spend between $15 and $30...I like the x3 idea. I would go with that.

Dreadie Mama~growing as parent

Member Journals and Timelines

I started mine for my son. He was killed July 3, 2011, at the age of 14. He used to pull things out of my head, you know; I would think of something and he would say it out loud. It was like that with dreads. We were in the car one time and I was thinking to myself, that's it, I'm going to just do it, and he says, Mom, you'd look good with dreads. And so, I have the approval of the most important man in my life.

I waited 4 months after he died to start. They (who ~are~ They, anyway?) say you should wait at least 90 days bee-fore any drastic changes after a life-altering event...so, I went a bit further, as it were. I am so happy with them and only wish he were here to see them, but I know Jerry is nodding his head and saying "Mom, you look badass". xo
