Has dreadlocks increased your sex appeal?

General Talk

For me no. My hair before I would say had lots of sex appeal. I noticed all the time that if I wore my hair up in a knot I seemed invisible almost to men a lot of the time. When I wore it down (waist length shiney and red) there was always lots of attention. Doors got held open, lots of flirting, people would ask me about my hair etc. With it dreaded, I think it gets attention. I'm not sure I do lolPS @Eva...I'm a married heterosexual female and even I'm in love with you lol

Uber dry hair :'(

General Questions

My dreads feel like the desert. I have always had dry hair. But without scalp oils and conditioners it is feeling like it could crackle. I use aloe with jojoba oil. I put it right on my damp hair after washing just to try and trap some moisure in there. That lasts for about a day. After that it just feels like I'm putting oil on top of the hair, but like it's not really moisturizing. :-/ I have switched to the bs/acv. Before dreads I washed every 3days. Now I wash 1xweek. Has anyone put coconut oil on caucasion hair? Anything else?? I'm tempted to use commercial conditioner.

Here we go on month 5 :-))

all the following pics were taken after completing month 5 of not combing...

The process was never that fast so far than it is right now. Hope it continues going on well.

I'm trying hard on touching and seperating only as much as barely nescessary.

Here are a few of the latest taken pics...

Still wash with BS every 4 day and i use acv every second wash. My scalp has adapted to that

rhythm very well.

Happy new year and a happy, peaceful journey :-)

lose hair and the use of wood ash to pull them in

Dreading Methods

Omgoodness I was just talking about this on fb not too long ago. Fricken Velcro! I leaned into our coat closet the other day and got my head totally attached to my husbands arctic work coat. And my car visor gadget storage thing grabs my head if I'm not careful getting in my car. The other beast in my house is this Scandinavian leather chair that has an adjustable neck support. You guessed it, about a 3" wide strip of Velcro across the back. Several times I've been playing with my hair and it has flipped over the back of the chair and when I went to get up I was stuck. Hate Velcro. -_-

i have baking sofa bits in my roots, i need advice

Dread Maintenance

Make sure you dilute it completely before you pour it in your head. Idk about anyone else. But I rinse my hair in the bath. I make sure to rinse my hair before doing other washing (like leg shaving and using bar soap) so I don't get other stuff in my dreads. But I get down under the water with my head and grab onto my dreads and swish water through them. At the roots I grab the dread and swish in and out from the scalp. Then I sit up and rinse with the acv solution. In mine I add a few drops of bergamot Rosemary and lavender. My hair smells great.

Please help!

Help! Save My Dreads

Well. Being able to brush your hair doesn't prevent you from getting them so I would wait until (if) you actually have them to worry about it. If you get them then you and she can debate whether taking your dreads out would be in your best interests. In the mean time keep your hair in a tam whenever you are home. Watch out for the seats in the car if you ride in the same car as your brother. Do NOT keep your coats/hats etc in a communal coat closet. Try and keep all of your stuff in your own room until his lice have been eradicated. Use the tea tree spray as a potential deterrent on your own hair. Good luck!

Naturally occurring dreadlocks a concept difficult to grasp

General Talk

I do the confused stare as well lol. Especially over the washing question. I usually respond with a "huh? What do you mean? I wash it just like before. It's just felted hair. You wash it just like laundry only in the shower. lol!". The look in their faces is usually like "huh, never thought of it like that, I guess so."

Naturally occurring dreadlocks a concept difficult to grasp

General Talk

Idk. I've already faced the cultural brainwashed norms wrapped around birth, infant feeding and mainstream medicine (used to be a RN) so bring on the ones wrapped up around hair! There's a whole industry there just to figure out how to brainwash you into whatever way of thinking that will get you to do what they want you to do. Change takes time and persistence. But mostly time. My favorite quote of Shopenhauers "All truth passes through three stages. First, it is ridiculed. Second, it is violently opposed. Third, it is accepted as being self-evident." :)

Lint and Paddles :/

General Questions

I kinda sewed a figure 8--or an infinity loop :) thru them and then pulled it tight and knotted it. After the hair knotted up I carefully snipped the thread and pulled it out :) Probably would've been just fine leaving it in though. The ones that were really knotted before sewing I just left sewed. :)
