velcro and zips + dreadlings= argh!

Dreads Hair and Scalp Health

Yeah, my earrings and zippers are always getting snagged but velcro is def the absolute worst. My head is always grabbing the velcro on my car visor. Someday Ill throw it out the window! The worst though was when I leaned into the bottom of the coat closet for something and came out with my husbands winter flight jacket completely wrapped around my head. >:-/

Irritated Scalp

Dreads Hair and Scalp Health

Is it possible that maybe you just had a bad rinse and maybe some soap got left? Or have you been sweating (out of the ordinary) or using a different hand soap or such and touching your hairline? I havent had great luck applying straight tea tree oil to skin, it seems to be gentler and more effective if it's in a salve of some sort even just a pea sized amount of jojoba or coconut oil. Whenever I use rosemary in my bs wash/acv rinse i get irritated skin. I apply one of those oils (jojoba or coconut) and it heals. :)

Ideal Way/Time to Separate Locks?

Help! Save My Dreads

I dont know that that ever stops and I dont think it has anything to do with separating other than if you actually pull hair out the root will be more fleshy. But even hair that normally falls out often has a little whitish thing at the root end. I dye my hair with henna so every couple months all mine disappear ;)PS in the area up front where i tend to have more of those i carefully snip the little white part off if theyre bugging me between hennas

What to do about irritated skin?

Dreads Hair and Scalp Health

Here's what I have- irritated follicles along my hairline in the back. They're swollen and sting.I'm wondering if there's something about the bs/acv (I use rosemary, bergamot, lavender) that would cause this. I do have very sensitive skin, and an auto immune disorder that affects my skin (but not like this, and not on the scalp). I'm wondering if anyone else has had anything similar? I've started to use a salve before washing to see if that'd help. I don't notice much difference.Any ideas?

Talkeetna might be good. We have friends with a log cabin out there way off the grid. He's got solar battery backup and quite a nice set up :). We also have friends that live on Lake Clark. That's fly in, but there are other people there some other people there. You know there's just something special about SE. True it is a rain forest. But it's so beautiful. It smells fresh and the salty air is everywhere, when the sun does shine the sky is bluer, the greens are greener it's just gorgeous. I love being near the water. You just have to have the right gear to love it. Nothing like crap gear to make u hate rain right? Same with winter snow gear.

i lived in seward, kodiak, homer, and soldotna......so i know the kenai pen. really well....i just hate how it's soooooooo crowded in summer.

i love the snow, and i'd love something near trapper lake or talkeetna, but too many snowmachines....i need solitude.

ive never been to s/e alaska...i think it's a little too wet for me, same w/ prince william sound, which is where i'd really love to be on a priv. island.

So awesome Yukon. I'm really happy for you! Have you ever considered looking more down on the Kenai? Less wind, still on the toad system. I love Homer, Anchor Point, even Seldovia even though that's not on the road systemAre you super attached to the snow? Because if not SE Alaska has amazing properties, same laid back off the beaten track people. Tons of waterfront, lots of great outdoor fun opportunity on the water and hunting. We've lived in Ketchikan and Juneau but w/family in Sitka. Friends in Thorne Bay too. My husband use to be a float pilot in SE he loved all the small villages and float camps. People with $$$ have made some amazing oasis' out away from everyone with only water and float plane access.

Good luck Yukon! Try not to be pissed. Remember it was your free will. It really does help to keep in mind you are making a choice not that you are forced. Just think of all the different and unexpected opportunities you have now. If it turns out you resent your compromises too much. You can always ask to have the money trusted to your son for when he turns 21. Enjoy! :D

To destroy, or to let grow. My dreadlock crossroads.

Ditto what Rainbow said.

The fact that you put the scissors down speaks for itself. They may be pissing you off, but they haven't pissed you enough for you to cut them. (Besides, people piss us off too, but we don't just give up on them. :) ) Keep them, and cut only when you are 100% percent sure you do not want them anymore. When that moment comes, you will not have to ask what to do, you will know the time has come. Until that time does come, enjoy them.
