Short hair and dread beads

Introduce Yourself

Hello. Do dread beads help in the lock process with short hair? I've seen some pretty ones, but don't know if they are functional too. Thanks for the comments !

dread wax and dread kits recovery

Thank you for your hard work. I used kb products wax etc and even though I we t through the removal I still feel tiny bits here and there. I am liking the natural method somuch more. I learn a lot here.

Thank you for telling me about the lemon juice! Could you please tell me wha length of hair usually dreads best. You can probably see from my profile pic that my hair is fairly short on the sides and some in the back; longer on top..about 3 inches.

Introduce Yourself

Hello... just started my dread journey (again). I originally tried backcombing, lock peppa, wax, obsessing, obsessing...and repeat. Nothing but bad looking hair (unhealthy). I am dreading my hair for a personal reason, not a fashion one. Thank you to all who post on here for the encouragement to get started the right way. Today is day one. I have curly, fine hair. My profile pic is right after a henna treat today. I sprayed lightly with water mixed with sea salt and lemon juice. Any info on the first few dayswould be great (what to expect/should I use lemon juice/etc.) Thank you Soaring Eagle for this website and all of the hard work and dedication you obviously have to helping others.

You have inspired me. I deal with similiar issues of not ever "being good enough". For who? I think this journey I recently recently started is more of a spiritual one, rather than about the hair on my head. I am searching within for peace with who I am, not what others have wanted me to be. I am going thru a lot of acceptance issues with loss of vision ( thankfully I have resources that help me that and I am grateful) and chronic pain and some other issues. I have been on a journey with these two for several years now and I am so much more still inside than I was when I was trying to look like a Barbie Doll. It's amazing what negatives can bring you growth and only make me want to grow more and be of help to others so much more. My dreadlock journey is part of another level of peace for me.

Whats it like being a dready parent?

Dreads in the Family

Wow...seems like there are really answers and ppl I can relate to here! I am a mother of five year old twin boys. I am also married to a wonderful husband, but has (and will tell you this too) become a bit more legalistic as he gets older. We are both in are late thirties. I have been a free spirit my whole life and this has caused some tension. We are working it through however. I live in an area where i feell like I am the only person with dreads, an interest in dreads, or an insterest in being free. I get a lot of crticism.
