Thank you both for your responses!! Yeah it's definitely new for me, they seem to be really taking off, but what a ratnest I've been using the avalon organics lemon clarifying shampoo twice a week and it tightens up like CRAZY after a wash. Even the little baby hairs at the base of my neck are matting up, and all of the underneath sections are now loops and zigzags. I worry sometimes it's going too fast.... but I also think because it was so damaged and dry from constant chemical processing, that helped it really knot up. I will have to grab a few new pics, I can't believe it's been over 5 weeks already.. I don't miss brushing at all everyone on here has such amazing dreads, I'm trying to go through pics and inspire myself, especially for when I have a rough day.

Ohhh boy.... it's May 6th, and things are getting loopy and messy I am struggling a little bit keeping them separated, but maybe I just didn't expect to be pulling them apart Every. Single. Day. This photo is about an hour after a wash, so they haven't had their daily pull apart yet, but you can definitely see progress. I'm just a little bit shy of one month...so I'm very pleasantly surprised that things have changed so much! Question, should I do something to encourage all the little loose hairs between dreads to form a mat of their own? I feel like by pulling them apart from the big "baby dreads" constantly I'm preventing them from really forming anything of their own. Pics to follow!

Ok so... 6 days later. I had to separate the area on my crown, it was trying to form a 2 inch section, but other that that I haven't messed with my hair at all. Loving the wild unruly process! And it kind of makes me sad to see the extensive damage I did, years of bleaching and straightening. Trying to upload current pics 🙂

Yes, I can already tell that back chunk at the crown is gonna wanna swallow everything in its path 😄 I've been trying to leave it alone but I think it's time to separate that section a little. I wash in the morning so I'll do it then Thank you!

The first 11 days of negligent bliss! I'm actually excited to see just how messy this can get

Sorry for any typos! It's a little difficult on a phone, and it just did an update, so my autocorrect literally hates my entire life right now lol

Hi guys 🙂

Introduce Yourself

Hello all... I'm Kasey. I've been browsing site for a few months,  finally decided to join I just recently started my neglect journey.  Going to try my best to photograph the entire timeline. I've never had dreadlocks, but I  can tell you I'm 150% over the constant damage done to my hair by brushing, straightening, and coloring all the time. Time to let it do it's thang! Looking forward to the process, and honestly nobody is giving me any negative feedback,  because I already have a bit of an edgy appearance,  so that I'm grateful for.  Here's to neglected rat nests!! Very happy I found this site, and excto get to know everyone!
