welcome :)

your dreads look good better then expected considering how they began

as far as  the spectrum goes, the spectrums wide and diverse. don't let the diagnosis affect how  you see yourself

as for the psoriasis the patchoily dread shampoo will fix that. the others your using are ..well not that great, i dont know the specific ingredienjts in tho9wse but others like it are pretty toxic

they also have an ingredient that might just be causing it

I wasn't using it when I was diagnosed with it! I started using it years after and it's actually the most useful for clearing it up. PSORIASIS comes from the inside, it's an immune issue not just a skin issue. when you have psoriasis, your skin cells reproduce faster than they can die off which causes the thick scales to form. The menthol and coal tar in denorex create a chemical reaction in your skin cells to force them to stop reproducing at such an abnormal rate and relieve the pain and itchy mess it causes. Regualar dandruff shampoos can claim to help psoriasis but very few that aren't medicated actually do because of the nature of the condition.

Introduce Yourself

When i got sick in 2014 i wouldnt have survived without doctors and medication, literally. i have multiple autoimmune disorders that have caused issues with my spleen and stuff so 'natural medicine' would do absolutely nothing. that's why i'm so against the anti vax community and everything. vaccinations in other people give me a better chance of not getting sick and not dying from a flu because i'm immunocompromised.  thats my point of view on the medical field and natural medicine but as always everyone is entitled to their own beliefs, and i'm so happy natural things work well for you!!

onto the dread topics, i do not think you should cut any hair! Your dreads will shrink a lot and longer hair dreads better! my hair was mid chest when i dreaded it and its above my shoulders now! It will be a lot easier on you in the long run!! Good luck and please continue to share! Here is a picture of my dreads for reference of how short the got!! My hair was to the middle of my breasts! but the back is longer because the back of my hair grows faster and was longer to begin with. the back was to the middle of my back (my hair is naturally curly curly and i am telling its length when it was straightened with heat)

Flat matted roots and thinning! Help!

Dread Maintenance

Don't worry about it haha! That is supposed to happen! It is your root starting to dread up! I don't separate a lot because i'm afraid of over separating. i do it when its absolutely needed and the roots are actually trying to combine. I did kind of grab and go sections in a kind of brick lay pattern and i tried to really let my hair choose its section if that makes sense and i haven't had a lot of issues with them dreading together. at the beginning i separated a lot but it wasn't really separating because it was only a few hairs here and there.

tldr don't worry, they're ok!

Introduce Yourself

HI! My name is Liz but on the internet i go by Litzalocks. I started putting dreads in my hair after years of wanting them on June 22 2019! I have 48 dreads with sections ranging from 1 1/4 inches to 1 1/2 inches thick! I intentionally made them bigger and kept some at the front thinner. I used a brick lay sectioning pattern, but kinda did grab and goo as well in a sense that i didn't use a measuring tool i just kinda winged it especially at the back. I separate them right now when it needs to be done. I don't do it too much because i don't want to risk the roots thinning out from being pulled out. I started with hair that was mid chest/nip length and it is now above my shoulders (except in the back lol I'm kinda rocking a dread mullet)

I do not use a dread shampoo or a residue free one. I use Tsal and every other wash i use Denorex Max Strength because i have psoriasis and dont want to risk weening off of it and psoriasis popping back up. When I've finished my treatment i will be using Tsal exclusively.

ABOUT ME: I am 19 years old girl from Louisiana! I am on both the Autism spectrum and Schizo spectrum with my mental health. I finished highschool but dropped out of college first semester last year because i couldn't handle the new social situation. I was diagnosed with autism only a few days ago as of today (8/5/19) and never received proper treatment. I believe and hope I will get well enough to try again

I am wiccan, I play the native American Flute, I love video games (specifically pokemon and skyrim,) I am a Dungeons and Dragons Fanatic, and ,love fantasy novels so much I write my own for fun and i hope to publish some one day!
