Vicki no longer shipping to the UK :(

Dread Products

I'm gutted I couldn't order with Vickie. I hope she's able to return shipping to the UK. Has she had any returned from the UK? I'd honestly pay her out of my own pocket for the return shipping if it got returned at customs. Even if it means having to place a bigger order to see me through a year or 3. I love Vickies soaps and are the only stuff I really trust in my hair.

Vicki no longer shipping to the UK :(

Dread Products

I tried to put in my order the other day to restock on some soaps but at the checkout it says "We do not ship to your country". This is strange as I've had 2 orders already.

I've managed to find a replacement that's made in the Netherlands called Dollylocks Dreadlock Shampoo. It's vegan safe, and all natural. They sell the liquid and the bars. It's a bit more expensive than Vicki's but atm it's the only product I can find that looks any good.

Dread head! Matts and separating.

Dread Maintenance

What did you do to start them? That's an incredible speed. I'm 8 months in and mine are only just starting to resemble dreadlocks. Still got lots of loose hairs and unlocked hair.

Loops and zigzags

Dread Maintenance

I've got many of these. I've got some real crazy shapes going on but over time they tighten up :) Looks good to me.

Update. And quick question on splitting locks.

Dread Maintenance

I've been using the inch rule through my process and not letting any hair lock up to anything over an inch. Thus far I've done well.

But I noticed recently that every time I wash with either the soap, or the liquid, a lot of locking is happening and I find I have to split dreads a day or so after washing because they start to lock up in the wrong places. It's crazy how fast they lock up because it hurts to get them apart.

What are some tips for splitting dreads? I tend to put my fingers between them and rub the locked hair with my finger and thumb gently working it upwards and out. It takes a long time and is quite painful on the arms ... especially after a gym session ha ha.

I've got 2 dreads that are fat, but fluffy. Still nowhere near an inch but to my fingers they feel huge. But for the most part the locking is going well. I have so many thinner tighter locks.

My son cut hair which was sad. He was getting bullied and wasn't maintaining it. He wouldn't let me touch his hair, and he wasn't splitting and ended up with huge clumps of hair that were just a tangled mess.

I'll try get a pic up later today.

Is there anything I can use on occasions to wash with that won't cause locking? Plain water?

5 months in. Got some locks, but still got a lot of unlocked hair.

General Questions

Not been around for a while, but still growing my locks. It's been about 5 months or so since I started the natural journey. Not touched my hair with a towel since. I've been using the liquid shampoo and mostly the bars of soap. The liquid makes my hair fluffy, the soap doesn't.

Anyway, I've still got a lot of unlocked hair. But I have a lot of locks too. The back seems to have more locks. The sides have some too. The front has non. The locks are thin, but not wispy thin. They have some body to them. I separate them only when distant locks attach, otherwise I leave it.

Does this sound about right? When I google pictures I see people will full locks after 6 months. Oh, also my 11 year old son started the journey. He's been doing it for about 4 months and uses the soaps. He had long hair already but asked for locks. People at school have been calling him a girl because of his long hair but he wants to preserver.

I have grey hairs. I thought about dying but I'm just going to leave it.

Look forward to seeing the pictures :) I've not been well for a couple of months too but mine is related to mental health and anxiety but made me physically ill. Only just getting over it all.

Am I ready for bars?

Dread Products

I use both. 3 weeks in and I can feel so many new dreads that it's surprised me tbh. Just placed another order for 2 more bottles and 2 more soaps because my 11 year old son is starting his journey too :)

Anyone ordered to the UK? Think there could be issue with my order.

@KenBlut that's a bit odd. What about Knotty Boy Dreadlock shampoo bar? That's available on Amazon.
