welcome to my world:) my journey has always been one step forward two steps back but i'm getting there. i don't think your using enough bs in your wash. i use 1 Tbs. per cup of water. i didn't start to see knotting until my 4th month. i just hit a year recently and still 1/3 of my hair is unknotted. some of us just have a longer journey than most. hopefully you'll have better luck:)

Dread Maintenance

About 2 tbls in about a gallon, rinse right away. I have been adding salt to bs as well as tea tree, lavender, and peppermint oils. As for drying, pat dry with towel and air dry the rest of the way. So it sounds like I'm in the right direction. Would you think I should start to see some development in the next 3 to 4 weeks?

Timeline?

Dread Maintenance

I know there are many hair types, lengths, and factors involved that effect how dreads grow and how fast they developed. That said, I am curious as to what a typical timeline would be in the development of natural dreads. I have not been growing for very long. It has only been a few weeks but it seams I take two one step forward and two steps back. How often should I be washing my hair(bs&acv)? I will have one day where my hair will look really messy and the next it will lay flat. I know that this will not be an overnight success but I don't want to be doing things that will slow dread development. What are some things you do and about how long did it take you to start seeing results? Any cool tips would be greatly appreciated.Much lovej

I think my body is getting pissed at me.

Dreads and Diets

It's sad to say, but that is very true. I'm an adult and I still get it from my family. I love that you mentioned children wanting to make their own decisions. It seams that uncorrupted minds seam to make more decisions based on compassion and reason. I think we should do more listening then telling when it comes to simple intentions of our youth.

what amazes me is if u choose a healthy diet u face ridicule

often parents wont allow thier kids to choose to go veg

and if they do they get teased and constantly have comments like mmm dont u want some of this steak?

Dreads and Diets

Changed my diet to be plant based about a year ago. Going from 28 years of meat and potatoes to a vegan diet took me a good minute to get used to it. Now I have decided to quite smoking and drinking and am getting into a bit of yoga. I have been feeling a little inside out for the last little bit (not a new yoga pose) but in the long run, I will feel healthy and clean. Its amazing to me that things that are physically, mentally, and socially damageing are not only accepted but expected of our society today.Much love,j

Have you used these? And What did you think?

Dread Products

That sounds easy enough. I this ok to start doing now? Its only been a few days that I have not combed my hair. Does BS and ACV help to start bind hairs together?

I am just getting started and I'm looking at some shampoos. In my area, I'm kinda limited on my options. Heres what I have found. If you have used these, let me know what you thought.

Kathys Family: prairie therapy shampoo

JASON Tea Tree Scalp Normalizing Shampoo

Neutrogena Anti Residue Shampoo

Also, I wondered if it is better to wash your hair more or less when your first getting started?

much love,

j

Introduce Yourself

oh ya,..... thats right........... its in the trash.....

No more 50's, greased up, high and tight, pompadour (which was pretty awesome as well). I have decided to grow dreadlocks. I threw every comb I own in the trash yesterday. Now all I need is some time. I'm pretty sure I have plenty of that. Anyway, I'm pretty excited.
