Hey y'all

Introduce Yourself

FemalePheromones: @bazooka Yep. Started on the 28th of February. I still think about what it would be like now if I started properly last July instead of going down the crochet route and wasting 6-7 months and a big chunk of hair.

Don't worry, i guess that almost everybody had wasted some ammount of time before finding the right track!

I will also post some new pics beginning of june when i hit the 17 month. Got some length lately which is fantastic...

Help! Save My Dreads

mine take like 5 hours to airdry, but i have blunted tips and i have to sqeeze the water out of them proper, or its gonna take way longer!

12 hours? That is long! And you still wash your hair pretty often S.E.!

If you wash your dreads 1-3 times a week you are good to go. Besides that, you can rinse with (cold) water as much as you want. I wash my hair not later than 7 pm because i want it completely dry before going to bed. Wet hair can cause mold, so you don't wan't that. I think wearing your hair like in the latest pictures is way better than before and will help with your recovery. Good luck!

good that you have stopped crocheting! Your hair needs to grow out at the roots. The longer and looser your hair get at the roots the less the sections will be seen. Let your hair grow and maybe wear it mostly open all the time? Pulling a ponytair very tight could also break hair and can also cause traction alopecia. Maybe wear a tam or something like that if you don't want to wear them down, but at least stop pulling them tight.

Recovery from crochet takes very long but i guess it's never too late doing it! Best wishes!

Hey and welcome!

Even after twist and rip your hair is still very long, which is very cool! It's the total opposite to mine, because i have started with pretty short hair. Maybe keeping everything separated could get a little harder for you, but maybe not even that. So your on the best way to get beautiful dreads in a couple of month, only patience is the price to pay! You can ask almost everything on here and i am pretty sure someone will have a helpful answer. So feel free and enjoy your journey as much as you can!

Sea salt spray

Dread Products

I have tried out seasalt for a while at the beginning of my journey and i guess it helps at least a bit. I have curly hair that wanted to dread anyway, so for me the benefit was not too big. I was told to use it a couple of hours before a wash and not to leave it in for days or just over night, because it will sort of dry out your scalp and it might cause some itches. So just go for it and give it a try, but don't use it too excessively! Buy a bag of seasalt and mix it with water, it's simple!

How do you wash freeform/neglect dreadlocks?

Dread Maintenance

rinsing with cold water is good against itchy scalp, wash at least once a week!
