Starting my locks journey

Introduce Yourself

it got me really scared after reading it.... I will work as hard as I can to stop twisting it, even if it is slightly.

Starting my locks journey

Introduce Yourself

I just did the combtwist method like 5 days ago and now I feel comfortable to let it loc, some loose hair will make me twist them back in position daily after sleeping... I'm so compulsive with twisting my hair, it's more like an addiction.. I need to stop doing it but sometimes it's stronger than me.Thanks for the kind words and for the tips, I might upload some new pictures of how it looks soon :)

Starting my locks journey

Introduce Yourself

Hello friends,

I'm Henrique, I live in Rio de Janeiro - Brazil.

I'm starting my locking journey and I might need some help with questions that been frying my mind. I was using a sponge to naturally section them and get some good afro looking at the first stage then I started to fingertwist what the sponge had sectioned.

I will show you guys a couple of pictures of how my hair looks right now. The thing is, I want my dreads to be sectioned and healthly, without any major need of products or whatever, I want them to be legit.

So, the first question is, can I section it with my own fingers or using a comb would be the best way?

Is it late (By how the pictures look) to use the comb?

Would it be better if I combtiwst them Asap? Or can I just use the comb to section them and maybe finger twist ?

Should I start using gel to get them "harder" or maybe "stuck"?

How long will it take for me to actually see my hair locking (Judging by my hair texture and size)?

I wish my locks look something similar to this (about the size/thickness) http://www.mens-hairstyle.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/12/Natural-Afro-American-Hair-With-Dreadlocks.jpg

But I do know my locks will not look like these at all, mine will be unique and thats why I want to do it myself without any type of "professional" assistance. Because it's what I call a journey, having it done by me and maybe a little help of my girlfriend
