Smelly dreadhead - Cause and Prevention

Dread Maintenance

Hi wonderful dreaddy community,

I just want to get your inputs regarding the subject. I know I've read a lot of thread about the topic but I think I'm missing some points.

I'm on my 6th month of neglect/freeform dreading. I'm using TeaTree & Nag Champa Liquid shampoo and Tea Tree bar from DLS + TeaTree EO rinse(sometimes). The trouble I'm having is now is sometimes being kinda smelly dreadhead. I can't actually explain the exact smell to name it, but after my wash day or in between wash day, my head become smelly like a smell of wet/damp hair for long period of time/kinda sweaty smell? maybe?

I noticed this issue when I'm using the liquid one but sometimes when using the bar one, I too got the smell but not that too much like when in the liquid. I know drying your hair is a big factor so sometimes when the time permits I sit/stand under the sun to dry but often times I just sit in front of a fan and wait for like an hour or two  for drying. I also do some Tea Tree EO+water in a spray bottle and use in between wash but maybe I'm missing the correct amount or procedure to apply.

What do you think about this logic? - Residue(becomes dandruff) + Sweat + Not so dry hair after wash = Smelly dreadhead(also itchy)??

Would appreciate any inputs, thanks in advance.

peace out

Dreads coming undone.

Dread Maintenance

Just to add.

I'm not that familiar with the way you did the dreading but in terms of using wax, that's when I understand the terms. Been reading a lot of thread from this very impormative site and glad to learn from the start that dreading naturally is all you need is patience and appreciation. You don't need WAX!

Patience in terms of the changes that will happen along your journey and appreciation every changes to make your own journey and wonderful one. Everyone have different experiences and that's what this community is all about. (sorry lil off topic)

But yeah, as SE have said, you need to get rid of that wax as soon as possible, search the community for tips or just post another thread of your questions and information will be pouring down on you.

Peace out!

new dreadlocks shampoo deep cleanse charcoal dread shampoo review

Dread Products

This would be great!!

Though I just ordered a set to max out the shipping cost couple of weeks ago. Enjoying Vicki's products now though I'm still dealing with the random flakey/itchy stuff. Hopefully my hair would soon adjust to this washes and go back to normal and just being neglect.

But yeah, looking forward to having a hand on this new product, will surely include on the next purchase.

More great products from Vicki = more happy dreaddy community.

Peace out!

Warm Greetings; New Passenger on The Journey

Introduce Yourself

Welcome aboard! You're definitely right, the place is here. I too have lot to share to the group though I'm still in the process of stiching my stories:)

But yeah, I'm also new to this site but it helps me a lot on our journey and now I'm on my 4th month and enjoying the ride. A lot of things happening but if you are detemined to what you want and don't care about what other people think, that would make you happy, go on! It's your life anyways.

So see you around!

Peace out!

Dreads Hair and Scalp Health

Hey just want add to the link to the post that tackles if u still need this which I personally apply with my journey: ACV+BS wash and specifics, there many thread/posting like this and this is one of those.

Ratios: Baking Soda Wash Apple Cider Vinegar Rinse Sea Salt Mix by  @the-barrellady  and others who contributed to the post.

Link>> https://www.dreadlockssite.com/dreadlocks-forums/forum/new_posts/100320/ratios-baking-soda-wash-apple-cider-vinegar-rinse-sea-salt-mix/search_string=baking+soda

Please take note of the ratios. Also different people have different scenario, so you're the one who could decide what's best. If in doubt, I know this forum/group is widely open to here questions and anything.

Hope this helps. Happy dreading!

Question about BS wash using distilled/boiled water

Dread Maintenance

Also thought of this scenario and actually doing this coz I'm have the hard water issue. Just a follow up question to the first post. Does it make sense mixing your bs/acv wash with distilled water and then rinsing out with hard water? The same with soaps that's having issue with hard water esp Castile soaps. Will it work if you dilute it first in a distilled water and then rinsing out with hard water?

Appreciate any input!

P.S sorry for digging out a not so old post, we have to keep the topics running :))
