New crochet dreads help

Dreading Methods

Don't go to her, what she said makes no sense, making them smaller at the top? she over crocheted your hair and filled your hair with rubber bands, charged you 100$... let your hair rest and don't go to her she's just going to stress you even more... also when you told her if she can twist it instead I'm sure she's going to twist and wax instead of twist &rip, meaning  she'll be twisting your hair to the max and waxing it... don't go to her, that's my advice

New crochet dreads help

Dreading Methods

take the rubbers out as they're making it harder for the hair to be well, since they're maintaining it in the same place.. also your hair was very short, she just wanted your money, if you paid I guess, either way she treated you bad, she did the dreads knowing your hair was very short to maintain a method and filled it with rubber bands to keep it together.... again i really recommend to take the rubber bands out and undo the "dreads" or let them stay idk, wait for souring eagle opinion on that, but me , I'd undo them and let them go natural, or if you're very inclined, i'd wait for full recovery (no pain!! no itching and a while after that...) and do t&r gently by myself or a friend after showing him what to do...

New crochet dreads help

Dreading Methods

crochet is really bad for your hair as soaring eagle said, take the rubber bands off and let the hair rest! either leave them like that , no maintenace no nothing, just let them do their thing or try to undo them and go natural or after full recovery t&r when your hair is longer, but natural just makes the best dreads in my opinion, and crochet makes the worst fake looking dreads... especially when maintainedd, either way, did she use wax too? i'd defenitely undo them and wash well, and let recovery do it's thing, but let's wait for soaring eagle input I'm sure he's way more experiencied if she used wax, like in terms of knowing what to do

Help needed to cover my hair

General Talk

R☮ZE:

... Bandana's and scarves help as well! I usually tie them up 50's style (like a pin-up) after piling all my dreads on top of my head in a dread bun. I know yours are short (for now), but I still did this even in the beginning! Most people and the elderly accepted this because it reminded them of an earlier era.

(I'm on the left in this pic) :D

I think I'm going to with a scarve, on the whole head :) ,just not sure I have one, I was thinking to use like a t-shirt, pulled up, the sleeves to "knot" the end , and cut the extra off, not sure how that would go, let's just hope I have a scarf :P

Help needed to cover my hair

General Talk

Irie:

Your best option would be online.
I don't know where you live but I am from Los Angeles and still had an exceptionally hard time finding them local, I had to drive out to Venice Beach.
Even then I couldn't find anything that I really liked.

Your best bet is that link I had already posted
https://www.etsy.com/market/rasta_tam

Lots of different styles/colors ranging from lowest like 10$ (I wouldn't buy any of these) to 80$+ obviously those you wouldn't buy to wear at work.
Browse around there and find one that you like, 20-30$ really isn't much for really good quality head gear, I mean most fitted baseball caps cost more than that now a days.

I have to cover my hair at work also, hair ties really held me back.
Tam or beanie are the way to go. Beanies tend to hold your hair more in one place though, tams are more free flow.

The thing is 20-30$ is still quite a lot for me  :\  beanies should be easier to find right? or if online, at least cheaper... I basically need a cheap, non agressive non harmful thing for my hair, the beanie might keep them all in one place but it's not harmful, any tips, I really need this help :\

I will assume when you say a dread hat you are talking about a tams.

https://www.etsy.com/market/rasta_tam

I started when mine was probably give or take just a little longer than yours, it was slightly below my shoulders.
A Tam would be 1000x better than a hair tie, if its a little loose fitting your hair will still be able to move around a little even inside the tam, unlike a tie which stops it completely.

While I wouldn't suggest wearing one when you don't have to, if you're like me and need to cover your hair for work.
Tam it up, or even a beanie until then if they let you.

Yeah, I never wear anything but for this work , since I'll be handling food, I need to have the hair tied back or covered.. I don't think they care what I'm using as long as it works, for lenght issues I can't tie it back, the hair band or tie or whatever is really bad, doesn't work properly and as you said doesn't let the hair move.. so yeah I'm sort of looking for a tam or something that works and isn't bad, any ideas where I would get that type of stuff?
