Introduce Yourself

I had just washed it (my whole head) a few days back and didn't feel ready for a wash, but my lower level felt oily (I had washed it differently)-so I thought maybe that would help that particular area. Plus, my top level was looking great and I didn't want to mess that up. Do you have a recommended product/way to wash my hair?

Introduce Yourself

Hey all, just thought I'd say hi. I just became a member. I have been using all of your insights to get me through my 1st full month of dreads and THANKS! I've been struggling with "just letting it go". It's hard sometimes since I'm trying to go natural and I don't see results so quickly (plus I need to look professional at work). Also, my bottom layer keeps coming undone...not sure why...I washed it today and pulled the rest in a shower cap, thinking the extra oil at the base of my neck just might be the issue. Hope to have wonderful dreads someday & hope your head is as happy as mine :)

I've been "lurking" for a month now too...I wasn't quite sure I would fit in (never do anywhere). But I think I've found my place...hope you feel the same :)

Hi Everyone

Introduce Yourself

I'm glad to hear that you started your dreads. I have been wanting them for so long (I'm 29) and finally started last month. I was a bit timid about walking into work (I'm a teacher). My students love it and most people have said good things. Remember, it's not for everyone, but as long as you want it...people here will def. support you, that's why I finally got the courage to start my own account today :) Good luck and btw, your hair is probably perfect for it!

Beautiful! I am on month one and some days I wake up and love my head, others, I wonder "what are you doing up there today?" Thanks for the comfort...my husband is spell bound by this natural process but he loves me, that's what is supposed to happen...it's good to know that what is there (or not yet), is what is supposed to be. :)

Welcome to both lifestyles :) My 2 year old keeps stroking my head and saying ,"pretty mommy". Most little kids love it. Glad you're on the path figuring out who you really are! I have always liked women more from the moment I knew there was a difference...my husband has supported my head and my passions ;)~

Baking soda wash?

Dread Maintenance

too freaking funny. I probably would have done that because science thoughts and I don't mix :) I've got some natural stuff I picked up at the health foods store around the corner...just trying my options :) read labels carefully. If it works..just washed...I'll keep people informed

Baking soda wash?

Dread Maintenance

okay, so I get the wash part...?'s about the conditioning...what do I put with the apple cider vinegar? How much? Does this smell like typical vinegar? I should know that last one at my age, but I don't :)
