Are no loops normal??

Introduce Yourself

So I just did my whole head 2 weeks ago and so far I'm loving the mess that is on my head! However, I do have about 8 dreads that are about 4 months old, which are doing great, getting thick, spongey and actually looking like dreads. I know everyone's journey is different, but is it normal to not get loops in any of them? I see these amazing pics of these beautiful messy loops, bumps & centipedes and I can't help but be kinda jealous lol...I'm sure I'm just being paranoid, but it would be my much that I have boring "straight to dreaded" hair lol

new dread question

Introduce Yourself

It's kinda sad that I never even thought about wrapping my dreads around each other before I tie them together lol....Will definitely try it! Thank you!

new dread question

Introduce Yourself

I have only had my babies for going on 2 weeks so I know they are supposed to be still sift at this point. I see pics of how some of you tie your dreads back together and I just love the way it looks. Although mine are plenty long enough, they just won't stay tied lol I'm wondering if this is just because they are babies and are still soft?? I also know it takes them at least a year to mature, so am just going to have to wait for them to stiffen up enough or are there any tricks or tips anyone has that I can try?? Thanks for any advice!! I love this site & use it for all my dready info! Keep rockin guys!

Ratios: Baking soda wash Apple cider vinegar rinse Sea salt mix

Dread Maintenance

I have been using the BS/ACV wash 2-3 times a week since I began my locks almost 3 weeks ago. Obviously they have loosened up at the roots, just like everyone's do lol, but are holding together really well for the most part. Would it be a bad idea to just do the baking soda wash & skip on the Acv for a little while? Or just use the acv maybe once a week instead of every time?

Dread Maintenance

I have only had my dreads for about a week and I JUST LOVE, LOVE, LOVE THEM! I washed for the 1st time yesterday, with a vegan shampoo I have been using for several months. I have a couple questions: with new locs, 1) how often should I do the BS/acv clRamses? 2) how badly will the BS strip my hair color? (I have always colored my hair red & I colored it about 2 weeks prior to dreading. I don't want to strip the color, but I do want to help my hair lock up) and finally, 3) How often should I spray the sea salt mixture on them? I have oily, thick, straight, extremely healthy hair and after the 1st wash quite a few of them have loosened a lot at the roots. I want them to lock up the best they can and I've heard that the BS/acv & sea salt helps a lot but I'm just not sure when or how often to use them. Thank you for the post & any quick responses! I LOVE THIS SITE & COME TO IT FOR ALL MY DREAD QUESTIONS!
