My hair doesn't dread!

Dreading Methods

What you've missed is patience. Listen, wash when you feel you need to. Shouldn't be less than once a week though. Wash with a dread shampoo. Go to dreadlockshampoo.com and order some there. And leave your hair alone. Just don't worry about it. Try neglect method for at least 6-8 months and if you do not see progress at all, which is rare, then do twist and rip to help you. But natural method is best. Just let it go really. Separate when you need to. Don't worry about having dreads, worry about the journey, learn about yourself along the way, let your hair be your antennas to a higher power. Let the roots grow, treat them delicately and patiently. Look in the mirror no longer. My advice to you...Peace.

Dreadlock natural smell?

Dread Maintenance

TBH i do the same exact thing... Lol. What scares me tho is that when My hair is wet or my scalp is even the tiniest bit sweaty, i can smell myself without touching/rubbing my scalp. It doesn't particularly smell BAD, but it doesn't smell...like Pantene :/ i miss that...i wash 1-3 times a week depending and even straight afterwards i will smell it...its just natural. I dont think anyone else smells it because i asked my gf if she does when she is close to me, she said she doesnt.

Wool tams vs Hemp tams, what one will help you dread faster?

General Questions

Any tam is somewhat useful because dreads form from lots of movement and then compression when we sleep. I wouldnt recommend wearing it through out the day, but when you sleep that way compression is distributed around your entire head as opposed to only the side u sleep on. Wool tams are usually recommended because it makes the hair messier from static and such, but for compression any somewhat loose fitting hat is helpful.
