Month One Guys. I'm Pretty Impatient >_<

Member Journals and Timelines

I would first like to say that I did have dreads at one point, but only for about about a month.

I was forced to undo them for various pressing reasons :( but I am soon to be free of those limitations and have started once again!!!! Buuuuut I still have to keep it somewhat on the DL so I just started the bottom half of my head. Yeah laaaame I know but there are a few benefits! For one I have really fine thin hair and it could be nice to have a bit of thickness there when I do go all out. Also I have had layers for years and it will give just a little extra time to let them grow out longer.

Not wonderful pictures because I didn't have a lot of time to sit down and take them, but this was in the first few days

Next is after a couple of careful baking soda washes

Two weeks or so later I finally had time to sit down and put some extra time and attention. This is almost a month in -->

Sorry they are a tad bit.. sideways.

This guy is coming along really well. I love the way a nice healthy forming dread feels :)

Notice two things here please. One is the obvious dread with its little loop . I have been finding tons of little dreads that are splitting and forming on their own. Independent little guys! ALSO the one that is fatter than the others. A bit short and fat. That old girl is at least 7 months old. She feels great and strong and soft. The only thing is the top, about halfway through, is much thinner than the bottom. It feels like the dread started to wiggle up and then just stopped halfway through. Will this fix itself?

Some of them have an almost braided look and feel to them, but they are knotting together great and not untwisting at all. They are tighter and look a lot neater.

I have fine thin hair and am fairly worried that my dreads will never get bulky enough to not look like absolute nonsense growing from my head. I am mostly worried about always having scalp. I wanted them thin so I could have many. I have also heard this is more of a noticeable issue with natural blonde hair, which mine is.Do you think they will bulk up enough in time? I sure hope so.
