Want to re-do your dreadlocks?! I am Re-doing my 1.5 Year old Dreadlocks!

Dread Maintenance

I am starting over due to a couple things. The main reason is my scalp keeps getting pulled on by baby hairs that are tight because I didn't section. I over washed them quite a bit which I also regret. They were twist and rip to neglect, which I will be doing the same thing over again with that. I will definitely section this time and take better care of them! :D

Want to re-do your dreadlocks?! I am Re-doing my 1.5 Year old Dreadlocks!

Dread Maintenance

I have had my dreadlocks for about a year and a half now. And I have decided i wanted to start this summer off with a brand new set of beautiful dreadies even better than these! Mine are all different shapes and sizes some are a lot more dense and mature than others.

I have tried searching for advice on the internet and have had no luck! I refuse to use conditioner because I make all of my own stuff so I am strictly using oils to lubricate my hair. I have been using different butters such as hemp seed and almond butter. And various oils such as jajoba, coconut, and olive oil.

I am preserving my length and quantity as much as possible and what I have done is basically lubricate the hair and picked my hair apart. So far I have lost honestly barely any hair!

Many have said "if you brush out your dreadlocks your hair will be extremely short and fried you might as well cut it" "You're going to have to wait weeks before your hair goes back to normal" I have been growing my hair out for years now, and I can tell you my hair is down to my belly button undreaded and passed my breast dreaded up! So far undreading my hair.. It is stronger, longer, softer, and healthier than it has ever been in my life! After every dread I finish undreading I wash it with amazing dreadlock shampoo and my hair goes back to exactly how it was before I decided to get dreadlocks! Do not listen to people who haven't gone through these methods!

Coconut oil has been my best friend because it strengthens your hair while conditioning and causing lubrication between the knots. My advice to you is soak your dreadies in very very warm water, heat up your coconut oil and soak them and then either pull them apart or brush them. I refuse to brush because I want to lose the least amount of hair as possible!

I love you all and good luck on your dread lock journeys! <3

Negativity towards dreadlocks

Dreadlocks Journey Emotional Support

LMAO. I too have gotten the "real dreadlocks" comment. All i did was yank on my dreadlocks and said gee they don't seem to be coming out so I guess they're real. Some people don't have an open mind about new transformations and honestly, if you can sit alone and be in love with your dreadlocks dont worry about other people no matter how close they are to you. They ARENT YOU. YOU ARE YOU. and in my opinion YOU ARE BEAUTIFUL. DREADLOCKS ARE BEAUTIFUL. NON DREADLOCKS ARE BEAUTIFUL. EVERYONE IS BEAUTIFUL. some people just don't have the mental capacity to realize that yet.. They will come around, and even if they don't fuck it. Your hair, your life. YOUR JOURNEY. i hope this helps you my dear :3

Why Don't I Have Many Dreadlocks?

Help! Save My Dreads

it also depends on how thick your hair is. my hair was very thick i thought when it was undreaded but i just realized my hair had a lot of volume to it. i have about 45-50 dreadlocks all different sizes and it looks like i have about 20 while my friend has dreadlocks that are about 3-4 inches thick and he has about 20 of them. texture and thickness plays a huge part in this. i wouldn't be too worried about the quantity though as someone did already say, its only a number just be happy with your dreadlocks :3

Knotted Dreadlock Wraps - How Do You Make Them?

Dread Accessories

i have tried wrapping my dreadlocks in embroidery thread but my dreads just seem to eat the thread. also, my locks stay wet longer when they are wrapped and i am afraid that is just risking mildew, how do people deal with these issues and what am i doing wrong?

soaring eagle said:

its embroidery thread i=or ..hemp

theres 2 wauys

1 spreeed wraps

tie the threads ariung the roots lay all colors but cutrrent along the dread wrap curren color around and around till u switch colors simple but falls apart quickly (weeks to a couple months)
