I did. I just thought thats what dreads must look like when they're new. To be honest I like cleaner tidier looking dreads. I don't think I could go the neglect route personally, though I respect those that do. Will just have to keep researching...

Oh sorry gasp isnt the name of the place I was lookin at, was just an expression. I was thinking of goin to dreadscapes, for some reason I am drawn to their website, and they are one the ones that are nearer to me. I did look at weirdsistas briefly as they came up with the google search, but did think the price was a little steep and they do sound crazy

Hey Rustdust, I'm in Melbourne too! I just stumbled across this site because I'm thinking about getting dreads and I was doing some googling. I was going to go to an expensive Melbourne loctician who uses *gasp* the crochet method...wonder if it would be the same one you went to. You may have saved me some serious bucks ... I am still debating getting them to be honest. I've always wanted them and I love the neat looking dreads but I'm not sure if I have the patience to put up with the messy stage without doing heaps of maitenence
