Fellow Dreadheads - I NEED YOU!!

Introduce Yourself

Fellow dreadheads, minions of peace, captains of awesome and people of all things amazing (That's all of you btw ;) )!!

I NEED YOU!

Hi guys!!

I realise I have been MIA for a while thanks to other obligations, but I need help and knew (hoped) you guys would have my back!!

Okay so my girlfriend is an artist, and a very talented one at that (
www.facebook.com/skitkdmg ) and her biggest influence is Pharrell Williams.

I'm going to try and keep this short but basically Pharrell has put up a competition that finishes on December 16th, and it's for a T Shirt Design. She has entered her piece and it is called 'Can't nothin' bring me down' and it is a man in a hat holding a smiley face.

If you could all go and vote for this I'd truly appreciate it. Normally I wouldn't ask for this kind of thing, but my girlfriend is my world, without her I wouldn't be who I am or where I am, I will do anything to make her happy and she deserves her big break NOW.

THat's the link to the FB page, if you could vote for 'Can't nothin' bring me down' and help my girlfriend's dream come true (Meeting Pharrell) then I will forever love each and every one of you. Vote, share it with friends and get everybody to win it! Please!

The prize money isn't a big deal for her but her favourite brand showing HER art work and Pharrell actually seeing it also is the biggest thing for her. We have been promoting like crazy and she is at 232 views as I write this, but we need more! We need over 300, so please guys! Help me out!

Thanks guys and stay awesome!

Introduce Yourself

Thank you for the responses everybody!

I recently made a mistake, pulled a few loose hairs in and got them in, then when i palm rolled for the first time I did it too fast and hard I think, thus pulling those hairs back out and creating a mix of regular hair and dreadlock. I have a body of dread, but A LOT of loose hair on the ends, as well as having natural tips (Not blunted). I know I have to wait a while to get blunted ends until my hair matures, but all of this loose hari is getting me down a little, quite frustrating. I will try these things! THank you!

My second question was in response to palm rolling, is it best done when my hair is WET (Straight after washing) and also, is it to be done softly? Obviously hard wasn't working for my hair, but does palm rolling really work?

Another question, I have put a hair band in my dreads (On top of my head) and they are getting flat as they are still very immature, so is this doing harm to my dreadlocking process? Is it slowing it down?

no lemon juice just ea salt lemoon will dissolve the core of the hair shaft

the gel and sea salt (pink sea salt) from wwwl.dreadlockshampoo.com

for the wedding use the gel

for work tie em back or cover with a scarf

dont bother trying to speed it up too much tho the pink sea salt will help alot

the roots will be loose for many months no matter what

Introduce Yourself

Hi guys,

A little about me;

  • I play basketball for a living as well as working in an office too.
  • I'm 22 years old
  • I'm from England
  • I got dreadlocks about 4 weeks ago
  • I love my dreadlocks!

I had a couple of questions and thought I'd just drop them in my introductory thread.

I've had my dreadlocks for a month, and I realise that it's a long process so I don't need to be told that! :)

Here are my questions though,

I backcombed my dreads (I know a lot of you will disapprove) and I have quite a bit of loose hair, and loose roots (When I say that I mean a fair bit of space between my dreadlock and my scalp).

Now on to my question, Is there anything I can do to tidy them up for a work a little? Or even help them to lock up a little faster. Do I do anything to speed along the process at all of tightening?

I heard that lemon juice and sea salt water helps to lock things a little quicker. I was just wondering I want to tidy them for work and I'm best man at a wedding soon and want them to be tidier if possible. If I can't lock them quicker is there a way for me to at least put something on them (Obviously not wax) and tidy them up a little?

Thanks in advance guys!
